A Charm invests a face
Imperfectly beheld—
The Lady dare not lift her Veil
For fear it be dispelled—

But peers beyond her mesh—
And wishes—and denies—

.: :.

The first stanza communicates the fear of the woman behind the veil, of one who masks her insecurities from the world in order to sustain the image she has created for herself. The second stanza, as brief as its precursor, delves into the reality of the situation; she can only hope that her peers are satisfied with the image she projects because it is all she has to offer.

There\'s two stanzas only. the first stanza says how she is wearing something that makes her look charming and so she doesn\'t want to take it off because she fears to not be pretty. The second stanza is saying that if someone saw her they would immediately like her for her looks but not for who she is, so if she were to ask him to come for and interview which is like a talk or get to know each other time, then that person does not want to hear it because what they really like is only her looks but not for who she is....
