I taught myself to live simply and wisely,
to look at the sky and pray to God,
and to wander long before evening
to tire my superfluous worries.
When the burdocks rustle in the ravine
and the yellow-red rowanberry cluster droops
I compose happy verses
about life's decay, decay and beauty.
I come back. The fluffy cat
licks my palm, purrs so sweetly
and the fire flares bright
on the saw-mill turret by the lake.
Only the cry of a stork landing on the roof
occasionally breaks the silence.
If you knock on my door
I may not even hear.

I like how she describes that people should look around and see the simple things in life. Most people are always in the fast paced life, but she is trying to explain that that\'s not what life is all about.

Apparently, by writing poetry, she seems to be able to dissect herself from the world. Surrounding herself in her own thoughts, she begins to understand more about it. The poor, the ugly, the rich, and the beautiful; she takes in all their features, mesmerizing herself in a world of only her words. Simple is her pleasant reminder of the world she lives in. Charming, dangerous, strenuous, restraining; a world where everyone must work hard to live. Seeking something more, something that could not be simply given to her. A way to indulge herself in the silence, and enjoy nothing more than drowning in her own thoughts. Sliding away from the hate and anguish, she writes of a peaceful world, a state of mind, where perhaps she had once lived. She writes of a place she hopes to belong to, a place of longing, she seems to have given up hope for it though; deciding that itís much too complicate to hope for something like that, and preferring to keep it simple. Clearly, this poem was written in what appears to be a somewhat painful moment, with a lot of emotion and hidden meanings behind it.

It\'s just due to the primitive translation, in Russian it makes way more sense and definitely has some of the loftiness.

In this poem the author uses many descriptive words to help the reader understand and comprehend what is going on within the authors mind. When one can dive so deep with in something but be so close the surface of reality, this is when poetry comes alive. This poem evokes several emotions that clearly where carefully planned to occur so that they would deepen the understanding of those who do not think in a very literal sense. In the first line the author says that they wish to live simply and wisely, this dispels any notion that the author is biased against those who have very simple belongings, for the simple fact that the word simply is followed closely by the word wise. The fact that in line two the use of the word god is used so in the poem might lead one to believe that the author is deeply religious and has a strong belief in god. In line three the author says that they must wander long before the evening, one could imply that the author would be traveling as a method to help them become closer to god and also as a way to escape their complex life that they once had. Once line four is read it is clear that the author has many worries and troubles that they hope to escape and be rid of so they can live a more simple humble life. Lines five and six help solidify the belief that the author only seeks sanctuary from other human beings and not animals. They wish to live and be at peace with nature and their surroundings so that they can reach their goal of being closer to god. After line six came line seven in which the author reveals that they might have some musical or theatrical background as they compose verses which might require one to have some skill in these areas. Line eight lies to rest any worry that is contemplating murder because they speak of beauty and not violence. There is a shift that happens from line eight to line nine, the author was talking of leaving all the they own and becoming more simple but now they speak of returning and coming back to the society from which they escaped. There is a difference from the society in which they came and that which they left the one that they left was complex and almost backwards in this confusion of complexity, but this new haven that is being described is one of peace and calm that one might imagine in a fairy land of some sort. Also, the use of imagery to help the reader understand that this new place is one of peace brings out the creativity that is inside of all of us. The reader can infer that the author found what they were looking for as they said that even though you may knock they will not answer, the reader can infer that the author would be asleep. This sleep would symbolize the inner peace that has been obtained by the author
