(Who feathers frightened fields
with the superior dust-of-sleep. wields
easily the pale club of the wind
and swirled justly souls of flower strike
the air in utterable coolness
deeds of green thrilling light
with thinned
newfragile yellows
lurch and.press
-in the woods
which
stutter
and
sing
And the coolness of your smile is
stirringofbirds between my arms;but
i should rather than anything
have(almost when hugeness will shut
quietly)almost,
your kiss
This poem is about loves strong desire just for a kiss. When Cummings compares his love to the rain he is saying she makes it easy for him to sleep at night, just like the rain falls lightly upon the fields. He goes onto say she is exciting, comparing her to the swirling wind and fragile, like yellow lurches. The whole poem is based off of nature, every word bringing a new element to life, just as the women’s love brings a new part of him alive. - Karen Back
