Life Story:Do you have 5 Hrs?
Raised in Arizona by artist hippies.
Started writing at 8 years old, first poem -'A Boy's World' about The Lord of the Flies.
Started drinking & smoking (all kinds of stuff) at 11. Started doing the "bad stuff" at 13.
Also when I was 13 a close friend took his own life with a gun, he was 17.
This is when I started really writing, I found myself having so many feelings that I couldn't express vocally. I had a drug problem in the begining stages, a dead friend and an assortment of guys who preyed on girls like me as well as guys who girls like me prey on.
So I wrote it all down, even if it was silly disturbing or just plain weird.
Through all the drugs, all the guys, all the different scenes, I've been writing. In 1994/95 I started reading poetry at Coffee Houses and entering contests.
In 1997 I met my ex-husband and slowed down on everything including the poetry, it seems I can only write when I'm miserable.
I started writing short stories and tapping more into my story telling ability with poetry, writing from outside perspectives and utilizing my bizarre dreams, during this time those were the only ghosts that still haunted me.
I joined Elite Skills in early 2005 and right away I became friends with such a similiar soul, Mike-Lamemansterms. Our friendship was so much more and yet we never met in person. What do you call a close friend who is also your...f*#%*ing poetry twin ?! Who you also have this total love and attraction for as well ? What do you call that ?! We wrote poetry to each other, for each other and about each other. Little pieces of genius sent back and forth with emails. Our friendship went beyond this site, Myspace or any other site we both were part of and communicated through. He passed away in January of 2008, suddenly and completely unexpected, he leaves behind family, friends, fans and his words, his beautiful, shocking, harsh and endearing words. There will never be another person like him.
Since I've joined this site I've gotten involved with music & painting, but I still write from time to time.
And for anyone who wants to know.....I've worked through my issues I had as a teenager...most of them.
Why I Write:
For a release and the joy I get from having other people relate to what I have felt and gone through.
