Life Story:Alienated

Bio:

Born 20th November 1981 in Manila, Philippines. Of Filipino, Spanish, American and Chinese descent. Moved to New Zealand when I was 4 years old with my mother. I also have a 10 year old sister named Alelei. I grew up on a farm with a lot of animals. Then moved to the big smoke for a few years before settling back in my hometown about 50km's south of Auckland. I have gone through a lot of jobs in my life. Chefing for a couple of years, a vet assistant for 3 years, now I'm a farm supplies engineer at this workshop where I dismantle and reassemble these huge press-setting machines. I'm still learning lol. I find I can put my mind to anything if interested enough. I get bored easily. I have tried being a: mental health support worker at a home for 'disordered' patients, an office whore, a customer services rep, a furniture salesman, a waiter/kitchenhand/cafe worker, and a dreaded telemarketer lol. All this in the space of a year after I quit my job at the vet clinic, split up with my girlfriend of 7 years, and moved out of the city. Life takes you funny places. I feel that you have to experiment before you can settle with what's right for you. I still want to attend university and get a degree preferably in english, history and mythology as subjects. World musicology and art history fascinate me as well. Either that or get back into the vet side of life. That's something ultimately rewarding that I cherish. I've also been thinking about jumping the country for a year or two. This country is beautiful and a great place to live, but I need to see the world. Preferably Europe or the States. Cruise ships are a possibility. My life is open right now. Well, was that enough of a bio for you? My god, I prattled on, didn't I?

Why I Write:

Because I have to. It's a form of release - of getting thoughts, emotions, experiences onto paper or onto the screen. Without it I would feel so bottled up and crazy and probably attack people with blunt samurai swords. Ok, maybe not that extreme but you get my point. Same with why I play and sing. I occasionally play at this quiet bar in the city on Tuesdays. It keeps me happy knowing I'm baring my soul and freeing myself in a way...

Hobbies:

Guitar-playing/singing my own songs, writing poems/lyrics, digital black & white photography. I also play around with sound-editing programs to make electronic music. The occasional film project too - I've tried my hand at extra work, filming and props. Something to keep the boredom at bay. Music, art & literature in general. I love to read fantasy, and non-fiction books about absolutely anything. Beaches, beers, surfing, playing pool and chess, gigs and raves. And good friends of course. Beautiful people are out there, you just have to go up and talk to them. And the odd random trip to somewhere beautiful and inspiring...

General Personality/What makes you unique?:

I am generally kinda zany and fun one day, reserved and contemplative another. Perhaps I am bi-polar and don't know it yet? I've always felt I was an old soul somehow - I would say that I'm very spiritual and reaching for something ethereal and blissful - Nirvana, Elysium, Heaven, whatever the hell you wanna call it. Sounds cheesy I know, but I don't care. I'm very friendly and outgoing and upfront. People or situations don't faze me, in fact I'm quite fascinated by a lot of things in general. But I need my quiet time too... Something unique? Ummm... I write left-handed, play guitar right-handed - not from choice, from learning it on friend's guitars first. But why aren't right-handers left-handed when playing? My dextrous hand is the one doing the fingering. Just something I've thought about... So yea, that's me in a nutshell. Almost. I don't let on with everything lol.
