Shoes
Mood: The Usual

He is very meticulous about this game.
He color codes the shoes by brand.
He believes unraveling laces equal unraveling lives.
He believes one knot
shows confidence and two shows
very little.
The bench he sits on is painted red, but it's fading from years of abuse.
This is where his analysis begins, the art of people-
watching through shoes.
Staring at the ground, he
creates a chalkboard in his
mind, the right side full of people he wants God to pray for because of their unreaveling laces.
The center contains people with two knots and the left
people with one.
Every time a person with weathered laces walks by he says, "A penny for your thoughts, I'd love to listen."
His favorite shoes are the ones that are multicolored,
he believes they bring out the best in people.
He counts shoes every day until four. Then puts the mental chalkboard down on paper, and before he lets his eyes shut, he prays for the people, especially
the unraveling.
