    Mood: The Usual

I am leaving this site. I feel like I rarely get critique of any usefulness, and it's just time to move on. Best wishes, keep writing.

"Deadman treats words like road kill,
    runs them down, stops,
rolls backward and forward over and over.
After he flattens thousands of words,
he thinks he has invented a new language.
    He writes a book, says,
'Here, read this, it will kill you.'"
Deadman as a Writer by Michael Delp

He's a cool guy. He signed my book. :)

School starts tomorrow. Hallelujah! In all honesty, I hate the summer time. Too hot, too long, nothing to do, it's just not fun after the first month or so. Don't get me wrong, I loved camp, and sleeping in is always nice, but really there's nothing here at home to occupy myself with a lot of times. I'm one of those people who likes to be busy all the time.

So, I'll still post, but not as much. At camp the most valuable thing I learned was to take my time editing. The last poem I posted took a month to go from freewrite to final copy, and I'm still moderately open for suggestion.

"Let me paint you a picture,
a picture that I'd know that you'd like.
    I'll let the colors run.
Let it dry, and then it's done and
we'll go to the market and sell it.
It's worth more to them than it is to you,
you said you'd put it on the wall, but I don't want you to,
and we'll go to the market and sell it."
The Market by The Hush Sound

    It's my new favorite song.

So I just got back from writing camp. It was so intense. I'm thinking I might not be on much, anymore, though, because I think the kind of criticism I need isn't available to me here. Maybe I'll post sometimes, though. I think I've been spoiled, being privately tutored by a professional poet/editor for three weeks and all....

So, my boyfriend and I decided that we're "taking a break" and just being friends, although I'm pretty sure this is an indefinite break. He's two years older than me, and he's got this big hangup about how I'm not as physical as he is, and he tihnks it's something I'll grow into, so we're calling it a break, but again, I'm pretty sure I don't wanna be with someone who won't wait for me. It doesn't bug me that much. It should, but somewhow it really just doesn't. I guess over-stressing physicality is just one of those things that makes me not care that he doesn't want to be together, but I'm not mad either. I'm just really indifferent to the whole thing. I'd take him back if he changed his mind, but I couldn't care less if he does or not. It's really weird.

In other news, I dig on this cooking thing. Did you know that 8 grated baby carrots gives you, like, a whole cup? It's crazy, man. And my whole house smells amazing, but my carrot fritters are all gone. :( They were good while they lasted, though. And tomorrow my gal pals and I are going to the beach, and I'm making muffins and some pesto dip and stuff. I feel like paula deen only with less butter.

    4 days til camp! AAH!!!

I'm leaving for writing camp for THREE WEEKS a week from this Saturday. wow. I am so excited there are no words for it. My bag is already mostly packed.

I've been cooking a lot lately. It feels really good. It's like, when people say grandma food tastes good because it's made with love, except you made it yourself, so it's like a self-esteem booster. If it tastes good, there's a little voice saying "I love myself" in each bite. :)

Pistachio-cardamom cookies= AMAZING. I got the recipe off food network. They usually take about an hour, but I had to take 2 1/2, one, because I had to shell and crushed what was at least 50 pistachios by hand, and I had to whip the eggwhites by hand, because we don't own an electric mixer, although after about ten minutes I discovered the blender does a pretty good job.

And today is spring roll day. :) My favorite.

Cinnamon Rolls are in the oven and everyone else is asleep. When all else fails, write a journal entry.

This is my final day of spring break, and I couldn't be happier. I've been so unbearably bored that it hurt.

bleh. I don't have anything to say really. I'm on spring break and I'm bored to tears. Plus, I'm driving myself crazy waiting to find out if I made it into this writing camp at interlochen, but it's a whole week before the absolute earliest that I might maybe find out. *sigh*
