    Good morning

    Mood: Relaxing

    Posted on 2012-08-05 09:09:16

       Good morning friends!
The first thing I did this morning was take a deep breath and listen. It's raining, my favorite type of day. I decided that a nice cup of coffee was in order, and so I sit reflecting on my quiet Sunday morning waiting for my muffins to finish baking. Two things have already come to mind 1) Why isn't it autumn yet? and 2) Where in the blue blazes is my copy of Jane Eyre? All these clouds and rain make me think that the first week of cooler weather will be here soon. Probably two weeks or so I'd say. And I think I've figured out what happened to my missing Bronte. I've loaned it to a friend trying to encourage more classical reading, and I've never gotten it back. Now to figure out which friend that was might be a challenge. Apple-cinnamon struedel muffins are smelling lovely in the oven. I don't know quite what I'll do with the whole dozen as I can't eat them all myself. I'm pondering taking some next door to my lovely neighbor Pearl. She's a sweet, white haired darling that must be at least 90 years old. The poor thing doesn't get many visitors but she's always so kind to me and her balcony is full of beautiful sunflowers, roses, mums, and the like. I like people that can grow things. As for the rest, I haven't the slightest clue what to do with them. A conundrum indeed. This concludes my rambling for the day.
    Have a beautfiul day dears,

    New Beginnings

    Mood: Guess what!?

It's been a very busy week for the cats and I. Tybalt had an eye infection and took a trip to see our lovely veternarian, Dr. Bacon (yes, that is her name). She's seen him every time he's needed doctoring since he was a kitten and she's become a friend. Turns out the poor boy needed drops which have been decidedly difficult to put in his eye. I've had to coax him with bits of canned chicken in order to even get him out from under the bed when it's time to put in the drops. Duncan is his normal happy go lucky self. He's such a precious snuggle bug and has been very good whilst Tybalt has been giving me fits. On top of all my cat drama, I've been getting my classroom ready for all my new students and exams for my own schooling.

I've got precious, sweet things this year. One little one brought me a half-dead rose she'd picked two days before because she was so excited (bless her), which I promptly pinned to my dress. Another brought me a brand new set of water color pencils which happen to be my favorite art tool in the entire world. This year is shaping up to be a happy one. And I, I am at peace for today.

    Cats and Chai

All this heat certainly has me wishing for cooler weather. I've turned the thermostat down and shut up all the blinds so I'm nice and refridgerated. And to top it all of I've prepared a steaming mug of Chai. The cats and I have decided to watch television and fold laundry in honor of today's work holiday. So cheers to you friends!

    Poetic Morning

    Mood: Relaxing

I have to say that the poetry I have read this morning was quite the experience. I love the aspect of poems that let you see into other people's souls.

Today I feel content. It's quite cold out this morning, in the thirties at least. A little wind is stirring the leaves on my porch. My cats, Tybalt and Duncan, sit at the back window and avidly watch them dance. They are those very "pouncey" cats, they chase and kill small pieces of nothing. They really don't care what it is, a small bit of plastic, a dead spider, a stray cheerio. And yes, I do still enjoy a good bowl of honey-nut cheerios.

The coffee's gone cold, so I'll have to reheat, the news is on in the background talking about inflation and cargo planes, and still I am content today.

    Just content.

    48 and Raining

Mood: Oh What a Beautiful Morning

    Posted on 2010-11-03 06:33:06

My favorite sort of days are the rainy ones. I woke up this morning to a cold, wet atmosphere. It's overcast and all the beautiful colors of fall are bright against the gray. I'm feeling nostalgic this morning. Days like this bring me back to the some of my favorite days as a child. On days like this, my father made his special dish, Steak chili. While we all sat around a lit fireplace for dinner. If it was a Saturday with this weather, it would be a lazy one, inside with several cups of coffee and talk. I'm enjoying my coffee on this weekday morning with my cats, listening to the rain come down the drain pipe that's just outside the living room. It's like Autumn music on a small tin drum. I revel in a quiet morning like this. Unfortunately, my day will not stay as calm as this. It's back to work after a day off for the elections.

    Good morning

    Mood: The Usual

I love the morning after a thunderstorm. The air is clear and crisp with autumn wind. The steam rises off my cup as I just enjoy the beginning of another new day. I've gone back inside now, and am sitting with my overly-large cat, scratching behind his favored ear when he paws my hand away from typing. These are the small moments, the ones that seem to mean nothing. To me they mean everything. I add them up and count them daily. I am just happy to be alive, and breathing, and relatively well. I am still young, still full of life, still able to hear and enjoy classical music. Still able to use both legs. Still able to use hands unphased by age. It's a great day on Earth. I hope your day is as beautiful as mine.

    A Answer

    Mood: Thinking...

Someone once asked me why I choose to write so many nature poems. I was surprised that someone thought I chose to write a poem. I look at poetry this way: The words choose you. For example a recent write came to me while the Atlantic ocean was at low tide and pulling at my feet. The words suddenly filled me. I could feel their very essence in my being. I knew I had to write the poem. So it was not a choice. I think perhaps that the best poetry comes from those types of experiences. When the language, the lyrics, the emotion, and rhyme fill you from your core outwards and into the world. Thoughts for today.

    The Wizard

Of course, as many of you probably know, the new Harry Potter movie was released today. If you didn't know that, now you do. I was pondering on the fact that Harry Potter and his quite extraordinary adventure to adulthood, is riddled with every indication of being the most perfect example of the "Hero's Journey" in modern literature. In fact it's so perfect that the hero even dies at the end and comes back..the perfect Jungian Christ archetype. Hats of to Ms. Rowling for her ingenius literary creation.
