    Mood: Thinking...

    Posted on 2006-04-29 18:04:25

I've a hundred submissions now and I wonder if perhaps it would be a good time to wrap it up. I've kept a dream alive that just maybe there might be a future for me in writing. Not necessarily serious poetry but maybe greeting cards or jingles or some kind of lucrative endeavor that would allow me the time to write of love and life and yet pay the bills. I guess it was kind of naive of me, like when I was younger and thought maybe I could make a living playing rock & roll. I've given about 7 or 8 of my poems to publishers for books of poetry (yes they do publish your poem even if you don't buy the book) hoping that I might arouse someones interest in my work but it hasn't happened. I'll think about it a little longer before I toss in the towel but I'm leaning toward packing it in.

Time to drop that Holiday message. We are living in a strange season here in Minnesota. Mild, mild temps and little to no snow left on the ground. The St. Paul Winter Carnival is a mere shadow of it's former blustry self as ice carvings melt and ice fishing contest are cancelled. This morning(1/27/06)was 46 degrees at 5:30. I personally am pleased at not having to be fighting 3 ft of snow and 20 below zero temps but it is strange and the people who depend on winter to make a living are going through a tough time. So there's my news from the north country.

May the Holiday season be a wonderful experience for you. Whether it be in giving or recieving may you find love and peace if only for a short time, and may that thought of peace be something you can carry with you year round.

Today was my 444th day at 'es'. Kind of significant for me. I was the 4th baby born during the 4th hr of the 4th day of 1948. Although the number 4 hasn't been extremely significant in my life I always seem to notice it when it pops up. Big deal huh!
