| User | SouthrnQT | 2005-05-11 | | | Subject | Advice | | Message | I’d say, think about something that moves you, something that touches you, something that excites you, fires you up, or brings you down. There’s so many things...write them all down, then think of how you’re feeling at the time, and go with it. That’s usually how I do it. Although sometimes, it’s just best to start writing, just writing anything, it’s amazing what you can come up with when you don’t even realize it. :) |

Some times you just have so much cramed in you mind you don’t know what to do. And you might find something, while rereading this little rant, that inspires you.
It works for me, try it. |

| User | Raven_s Miser | 2005-04-24 | | | Subject | try | | Message | try to observe more things in life don’t limit yourself to the topic expand your horizons and soak in everything that you can.
also try to familiarize yourself with things that you have related to in the past. so you can have diversity in your writting.
this may be the most rediculous one of them all pick up the dictionary and look at the many words that are in front of you. I do it alot and it helps me to see the really crazy things that couls add to my writes
i hope thins helps. |

I’ve got my characters into a battle, and they’re at the gate to get out of town. I’m stuck on what to say to take them out of town, and on their way to a castle. It’s so frustrating. I’m just biding my time. Wait a little while, then come back to it. |

My boyfriend says I freak him out because I notice so many things that everyone else misses. Those neglected subjects are the source of the majority of my poems. Reading is a good idea; I always get ideas when reading other people’s work (whether poetry or prose). Music and art are also good for inspiration. You can also try doing writing exercises. Things like magnetic poetry are good for ideas. You also have to give yourself permission to write about things that are uncomfortable and to write garbage. Sometimes I just sit down and write in a stream-of-consciousness style, and it starts out horribly, but I eventually get something good out of it. You have to move a lot of rock to get to the gold. I think that if you keep working at it, that the muse stays around for a long time. |
| User | magnicat | 2005-03-31 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | take a real good look around you. i’ve been inspired a lot lately by the simplest things in nature.
i also sometimes find phrases that pop out at me and result in a poem that i build around that phrase...
sometimes, tho, you just have to honor the muse as she takes a vacation without you. good luck. |
