Message  Man, I’m sorry to hear that, Akn. I know it’s going to be a long, long time before life gets back to normal down that. My heart goes out to you all, even though, I must confess, I can’t even imagine what’s it like. I won’t insult you by saying I can. mae

Message  Not me. With Akn’s luck, he would have been washed out to sea.

Akn, was your home destroyed? How are you doing? Are you bracing for Wilma? Where are you living now? mae

Message  The same would go for your reading skills.

I prefer not to talk when people cannot hear me. I’d rather type it out ya know, it works better.

Onto better things...how do you feel about the natives not wanting to leave? Everyone around me says their fools, but I say I’m fucking proud of them.

What do you think, being a native and all?

Message  Akn, if you’re from New Orleans, you’ve probably seen me in the park once or twice.

I was the white boy in nice clothes that was asleep.

Message  straight outta New Orleans, the best part of the city, don’t let anybody tell you any different. i personally have never eaten alligator, but my friend hunts em.if you ever come back down, try to make it for Essence Fest or Jazz fest or VooDoo. all great music festivals. French Quarter is always nice, if you have a condom. lol. try coming for Mardi Gras. its really a culturally rich place to visit, much less live. eat the gumbo, and the crawfish, correctly. meet the people, see the sites, shop. Louisiana is the shit, if i must say so.

Message  I’m sorry, Akn..., I would have thought there’d be other Louisiana residents here, if not natives, but, apparently not. Many years ago, my husband and I took a trip to New Orleans and surrounding areas. Unfortunately, the lab where we sent our film lost it. They gave me back a blank roll of film - I asked for another trip to New orleans so I could take more pictures.

It was a wonderful trip. It was in August, which wasn’t so great, but other than that., it was fantastic. The thing I remember most was the accent - pure music. I was attending a national convention, so had a chance to hear many different accents. Louisiana’s was musical, purely musical. I loved it. Do you sound like that?

We went to several of New Orleans’ more famous restaurants - typical tourists, of course. I’m afraid I insulted the waiter at Anthony’s. Alligator was on the menu and I asked him if it tasted fishy. He puffed himself up and looked down his nose at me and intoned "Of course not, madam". Tee-hee.

That was a good trip - a really good trip. What part of Louisiana are you from?
