Message  At the end of the poems this chunk of text:

"I can relate! Great write! Love the [[flow, wording, rhyme]]. You rock!!!" = Bad comment
--- How can we create original writing if we can’t give an original comments? Elaborate on what you liked about it and make the comments personal. Respect people’s time and give detail as you would like to receive it. Find what nobody else can find and connect in a way nobody else would. Find your style. It should not be taken with impatience.

is a bit distracting. i think it takes something away from the reading of the poem. would it not be possible to put it in a separate box directly below the poem? or have some sort of separating line?

i’m not sure if this is too much to ask.. but i think the visual aspect of the poems is affected by the presence of that block of text.

Message  I agree- getting the commenters to actually critique rather than just simple say they liked it is a big deal- i noticed that message after my first viewing of a poem- that is what it was intended for ;)

Message  btw, by phrasing I mean the length. The main messy bulk of it is the comment nagging.

Message  i wasnt saying anything about the way it was phrased. but i do see your point. i havent seen a site with such honest critiques before where the writer’s take them so gracefully. it’s refreshing..

..and i’m sure you meant ’if i put it right under..’ didnt you? ;)

Message  additionally. 3 boxes would just look weird. If I put it write under the the second box it’d look naked.

Message  They actually are more important. This site is foremost a site for critique and commentary and not a submission gallery. It’s what people come here for. There’s very very few people here for the fun of only reading. People don’t like reading. Plain and simple. They rather write and complain than read and observe. The points stressed are put as succinctly and persuasively as I could phrase them.

The amount it distracts from the main writing is negligible while it’s of very high importance.

Message  was just an idea.. no problem.. but i do want to point out.. i couldn’t agree with you more about the comments. but when you say that it is "intended to be distracting" then you give the impression that the comments are more important than the writing itself.. where they should ideally be given equal importance.

Message  It’s intended to be distracting. I want it to get people’s attention because good commenting can help both the author and the commenter tremendously. Many just give a glance over and give the same type of comment. Ideally they should give focus to each piece. As writers we should work to create a unique style. Style is personality. Writers should work to give original comments, not just original pieces. It will help quite a bit. People are far more likely to write and complain than read and observe. I find it very important to stress those concepts. Hopefully over time people find the patterns for themselves.

Message  You may be right about the asthetics and it is not so pretty, but let’s not sweat the small stuff. :)
