Basically, I hate and fear hip-hop BECAUSE you see it in the way people dress all over the place. Even the way they walk! It’s so fake, they’re like a freakin anthill all crawling and rattling and bebobbin around.
I don’t know the lingo, as you can see.
I wouldn’t know an up-and-coming hip-hop artist from Chuck Norris in a turban. I do know it’s all over, it’s hooked the teenagers (of which I am one by age only), and it freaks me out. |
| User | Aknahlij_d 1 | 2006-02-12 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | i think hip hop just needs a CBGB, Apollo kinda place to perform for people to realize its legit. i don’t understand why its so hard for people to just accept it. you see hip hop everyday, past music. you can see it in the way people talk, the way they wear clothes, and its undoubtable. if jesus were still around, he’d be listening to christian rap. i think its not good, however, that the only thing critics (some on this site) get exposed to is the bullshit on TV. if any of you are willing to dig a little deeper and not base your thinking off of P Diddy and John Cena, there are hundreds of incredible unfound artists on the underground scene that are breaking ground and deserve to be the people that put the bulshit out of business, to bring art back to music. not to say that there is nothing of worth on TV today, but the critics are never gonna see that. that’s why i opened my forum room. i wanted to give poets a different perspective on hip hpo. its not so easy to do waht these people do, so stop being so quick to critisize and open your mind to the artistry of music in all. i love music, i love hip hop, i love art. critics can blow me, because you’re a bunch of fucking hypocrits. | User | Magnolia Steele | 2006-02-12 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I think that the style of hip hop is becoming a universal thing among all races. I think urban music is not as strong as it use to be when I was growing up. I’m very open minded about the types of music I listen to. Hands down, I love myself some Mariah Carey, I’ve been a fan since she came out. I have most of her albums, I’m only missing 3 of them. I think people confuse the image of the songs and videos and assume it is like that with all Blacks. I never thought it would take over middle class White kids like it did...and other races. That was a newsflash if I ever saw one. I think black music have gotten off track with how things once were. Singing is not as strong, stage presence is all about show and bling...it’s just wierd to see sometimes. I feel old when I see stuff like Ciara, and remember When Whitney was the stuff. Mary J. Blige is one of the few women who actually sing in my opinion. Heather Headley, Tamia, Toni Braxton, and a few more are still using their voice and not dancing/stage skills. That’s just my two cents on this topic.

| User | Areinaka | 2005-04-12 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Heh. I have a PS2, GameCube, and a sweet computer. At one time, I had those, an N64, a PsOne, a Super Nintendo, and two Game Boy Colors. Pretty sad, especially considering I’m a girl. lol. I sold all the others for Ps2 games.
I love Em’s voice. His music soothes me because it lets me know that there are people with worse problems out there. I love how he’s not afraid to say anything. And, he’s rather honest, even about himself. It’s great. Although, I’m not allowed to listen to his music. My mom says its inappropriate for my age group... I’ve heard worse... *wicked grin* |
| User | D.Johnson p.s.a | 2005-04-11 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Em’s a pretty krunk white rapper. He dosen’t keep his music on one topic and hes not afraid to talk about things others look over like my man Kanye West. On another note I like to play video games even though I need to upgrade I’m still playin playstation one. Oh Well

| User | Areinaka | 2005-04-08 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | KK. I just like his voice. I’m not into the musical politics and stuff like that. I like music for the way it sounds. The reason why I started liking Chingy is because I was watching MTV, and saw the video for I Like Dat. I fell in love with his voice. I don’t have any hip-hop cds. I barely have any as it is. I’m more of a video game fanatic lol. I listen to music in my spare time.
Anyway, what do you think of Em? |
| User | D.Johnson p.s.a | 2005-04-08 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I mean I respect your views but I mean Jus look at Chingy he looks straight up retarded, and the way he came up was imulatin other peoples style than after he thought he was all good he left DTP and his career hasn’t really been the same. I didn’t even think about getting his second CD but I will admit I do have his First.

| User | D.Johnson p.s.a | 2005-03-20 | | | Subject | DAMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNN | | Message | I haven’t been to the forum for 2 weeks and I already see a fight bout to break up in here. I read everybodys comments and I see how you all feel, but I ain’t gonna knock none of yall for the music yall listen to, because I don’t know you and I know for a fact I just don’t listen to rap. Everybody got something to say and everybody always going to have an opinion no matter how much you try and sugar coat things. what can I say its life and it ain’t nothing unless you want to make something out of it, and thats for real. but us sittin here arguein whos music is the best, what ’s crap and whats not, and the meaning behind it, them artist out there fake or ginuine is gettin that paper and could give 2 flying birds on or opinions, they’ll jus look at us and laugh and say we have jus a little to much free time on or hands typin in everyday in a forum thaqt too many won’t see.
Winterbliss- I feel you on how some people perceicve our culture and are quick to judge us before they even get to know us. But its like you got to have some light the main reason they do look at us dumb is due to the fact of the music we listen to, and as harsh as that may sound it does get a little sad and tireing of tha same excuse given to how were perceived.
Solomon Disease- In the same way you and winterbliss got the same views yall both were misunderstood in something that you were trying to do, and you both had to do what you do to make it through. But I wouldn’t have beaten you up over the music you listen to, obviously them peoples didn’t have anything else to do.
Lil Santo-??????????? I feels ya
and this entry Im postin right here are my views So you can HATE it or LOVE it
or jus say Fuck it all but obviously you cared enough cause your sittin here readin it.

Bottom Line
FUCK ROCK
FUCK RAP
And Fuck all of you, music is what you want it to be, whether it’s listening to some bitch sit on his front porch playing a god damned banjo, or having some Ghetto hard street thug talk about fuckin your mommas Face. It’s all down to the individual, that’s why there’s still disco CD’s coming out. Cause some fuck face is sitting at home saying
"I may be a loser but at least I listen to Disco!"
as for this poor ass getting beat up everyday, maybe if you were a little more open minded you would have just saved those ass whoopins for someone who deserves them...BUT WHO FUCKING CARES ANYWAY! You’re a nobody like the rest of us.
If you let others dictate what you listen to then you’re just another sheep of this society that we live in...you’re just another fish swimming in the mainstream listening to some fucking guy rap about how much more money and power he’s got then you. Why don’t you take your rock listening ass and shove it up some rappers ass and call it a night......
AND FUCK COUNTRY! |
| User | Solomon Disease | 2005-03-16 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | obviously you agree with me on the part that rap isn’t music -- cause you haven’t debated that.
And you’re telling me I complain -- what about rap? All the things YOU have pointed out that are apparent in rap are all complaining. It doesn’t talk about anything else except how many ho’s and bitches they’ve fucked or molested. Or whatevers. I don’t wanna make this too long. The point is some can talk all day about how their life is shitty. But that is not going to do anything. And rappers take pride in being materialistic thugs who don’t really give a damn about anything except themselves. Rap doesn’t propose a solution to the problems in a black community -- they only give the message that it is ok to be violent and fuck things and people over while worrying about how much "bling" you have compared to the next one. I had a black girlfriend once and she lived in Compton (no joke). So I know what it’s like a little bit about the hood. And my girlfriend loved Jimi Hendrix -- and stuff. She couldn’t stand rap -- because it only made the kids who listened to it be more violent and whatevers. Kids who listen to this crap wanna be like the rappers. Wanna destroy their lives and others. Rap is also racist. I don’t care who uses the word nigger or how "nigga" has a different meaning. Plus it is racist against white people. And you have no right to assume I’m white. In reality you don’t know. You had to bring in race because I think that is the only argument you could use against me. That’s bull in my opinion. It doesn’t matter if you’re black/white/chinese/australian or whatever -- if you have a bias against a certain race then you’re racist. Sure life in the hood is hard. But why sell the message to kids that it is cool to be in a gang, get shot, sell crack, call girls bithes and ho’s, etc. and they should take pride in it. I think it only perpetuates the problem and maybe even makes it worse. It doesn’t propose any solution. Therefore I don’t think it is worth while for kids to fill their heads with stuff telling them to be a thug. It’s stupped. It teaches ignorance and hate -- that’s not cool. I did try to understand it and I do think I have a clue or to about rap. So It’s my opinion it is crap. And people need to wake up to that fact. Rap (in my opinion) is the disco of our generation. Just like disco was the "in" thing in the 70’s and then suddenly people woke up and realized how stupid it was -- I think that will eventually happen with rap.
On a side note -- I’m a loser. I’ve always been. Rap didn’t really show me a home for me -- a loser. I found a home in rock. Where I used to go to school everyone used to listen to rap. And I used to get my ass kicked on a daily basis -- because of that. Sure it’s funny as hell now. But it fuckin’ hurt. It proved to me rap teaches nothing except bullshit -- cause they had to out-number me and wouldn’t even let me defend myself in a fair fight. I got my punches in though. Then I met some punks one day -- and they helped me kick those fuckers’ asses. And then I went to a different city and a started high school -- I went and joined the punk group immediately. So . . . rock -- may it help many losers like me to find a home where they can be themselves. Peace. |
| User | Winterbliss | 2005-03-16 | | | Subject | Unknowing Idoit | | Message | First off solomon,Your talking out of your ass now,Because you have no idea what hip hop is all about.Hip hop is a lifestyle it’s a way of life for some people,Yes some rappers talk about crap like money and cars and bull like that. However,That does not define hip hop music as a whole.Rappers like Tupac,Dr.Dre,Biggie Naz,Jay-Z ect. They talk about what’s it’s like to be black in america,What it’s like to grow up in the hood being poor and seeing their peers being killed in the streets because of gangs or selling drugs.....Thats real shit and it happands everyday in the black community. But of course you don’t understand that because you don’t have to live life that way,Instead you sit behind your computer and complain about how sad life is in your safe white world.I read your post where you talked about being fired from your job because you stood up for your beliefs,Well how about this...Try being fired because you don’t "fit in" with the rest of the employees who happands to be all white...
Now you may ask whats the point in that last statement,Well it’s simple, you don’t understand a thing about hip hop or whats going on in our community, you can’t comprehand the struggles that are diplayed in some rap songs. And the reason being is, it’s not your lifestyle To you it’s crap because you don’t have to worry about it...it’s not happaning to me or anyone in my neigborhood so i don’t have to worry ...Well before you think to have some "view" on hip hop,Have a clue on what your talking about or at least try to understand it.
Why don’t you do some research and come back with a statement that has some REAL facts in them and try to have a valid arguement. |
