 Topic  coolest job
Message  what is the coolest job you have ever had?

mine was in a soap factory. i worked for Felicity Soaps, which is a glycerine soap. we had made soaps like cucumber, strawberry and other assorted fruits and veggies. i did everything from mixing the soap to wrapping it, sending it through the conveyor belt to shrink it and then boxing it at the other end. when i wrapped it, occasionally i would stick a note inside that said something like, "HELP! i’m trapped inside this factory and can’t get out!" juvenile, yes, but i was only 16 at the time!

i also worked at M&M/Mars company, making chocolate. it was a great job and i got to take home lots of candy! after awhile, though, the smell got to be a bit much...

Message  My coolest job was in high school when I was fifteen,I would give piano lessons after school to little kids. There’s this really rich section in my town called Sleepy Hollow,And my teacher lived there. She told all her neighbors and friends about how well I played,So they all wanted me to teach their kids how to play. The money was good for a fifteen year old who only went to the mall every weekend : ).I gave lessons until about eleventh grade,Then I got a real job that I hate.

Message  My first job was as a clown on a petting farm. It was 100 degrees some days and I had to wear full costume...but we worked with special-needs kids, and even though I was only 14 (worked for a friend of my parents) I got a sense of satisfaction from seeing how happy we made the kids. As far as actually good jobs, I worked at Best Buy. That place rocked...I did nothing but talk to people all day and come up with creative reasons why I couldn’t actually name any of the products we carried...LOL.

Message  Cat! How could you possibly forget that your favorite job was taking care of cats?
Really!
Well, I don’t enjoy work much, I’d rather be honest and say that if you would all send me a few bucks each month I’d be glad to play all day and write you a few poems every week, but I did have a job once doing insurance inspections. I did this for seven years. It was pretty cool because I got to use a company car and travel a lot. In fact I drove the entire state of Michigan, the entire state of Illinois, and part of Ohio, Indianan and Wisconsin. Since I traveled to the same areas over and over, I eventaully had a lot of friends in these different places, and got to visit with them at night when my work was done. I’d usually get home Friday night and write reports over the weekend. See, I’ve always been a "paid" writer!
One type of report we did was liquor liability inspection reports. You’d go in a bar or liquor store, examine the license, look for hazards, interview the owner or manger, take a picture, measure the building and parking lot, etc. For awhile the company I worked for had to inspect every nude bar in Detroit. Not topless, not then. Nothing but lipstick and shoes. And I was about 25 years old at the time. It wouldn’t do much for me now, but it was something else back then. Needless to say, not a lot of people know about this, at least no one that lives at my address!!!!!
OK, top that.

Message  Wow guys, just look at this! Everyone’s had such cool jobs (except Krissi, ha-ha :P)

The coolest job I ever had were my first two. I was twelve, and wanted to work with horses. There was a pub in a villiage about half a mile from my house and they had one horse and two ponies who lived out in paddocks behind the pub. It turned out that they belonged to the daughter of the landlord, and she’d gotten bored of them. So I basically adopted them! I was paid in as much coke, crisps and chocolate I could eat (and at twelve, that was all I wanted, LOL!)
Every day, first thing in the morning, last thing at night, I was down at that pub learning how to look after horses, using my library books to learn all the anatomy and how to clean them, and their saddles n stuff, and after a while I started riding them... after a year the owner decided to sell the pub and the two ponies were sold, but my favourite, Harvey, stayed another three months. When he was sold too, I went and found another job further down the road in a different villiage, this time in a showjumping stud... They couldn’t believe I’d taught myself so much in a year! I stayed there another year, working as a groom in the yard and travelling all over the south of england, at first to help the riders get the horses ready for classes, and then as a rider myself... I jumped Hickstead when I was fourteen :)

Such happy, happy, happy days....

Message  oh, ameverlith, you reminded me of the job i had at The Cat Hotel in Oyster Bay, Washington. people would board their cats their when they went on vacation. i spent my whole day with the cats, cleaning the cat boxes (least favorite job!), feeding them, petting them and just in general hanging out with them. my boss just left me alone to hang out and take care of it all, and it was great!

Message  Aardwolf Record Store...That was so frickin cool. I got paid to basically sit there and listen to old 70’s rock and help the occasional customer find something. One of my best friends happened to be my coworker, we had the same hours, which rocked.

6 dollars an hour to hang out with my buddy and listen to Jimmy Hendrix and The Doors. How sweet that was!

Message  my fave job was working for Amazon Cafe in philly... we made smoothies and stuff... mmm.. so many smoothies.... and everyone that worked there was fun to hang out with...

i also liked working for IBM.. in manufacturing.. that’s cause my machine was always broken and we werent allowed to fix it.. it was just me and this older guy in this big room with these computer circuit boards... and there was this separation into this yellow rom where everyone had to wear special suits.. four people altogether.. so when the machine broke, i’d either nap, or go hang out with my friend from the yellow room... we wasted a lot of time..

i’ve actually enjoyed most of my jobs... especially when i smoked lots of weed all the time... we closed subway (sandwhiches ) for two hours one day so we could smoke in the freezer... hehe
