| User | marigold | | Topic | literary journals | | Message | Hi everyone!
I’m intersted in having some of my poetry published in a literary/poetry journal.I would be very intersted to know whether anyone here has ever had any of their stuff published in a journal or magazine, and if so which one(s)?also, any suggestions as to which ones are more reputable/prestigious or accept things from first time and relatively inexperianced writers would be really appreciated.
finally ,if someone has the time etc.,to read some of the things that I’ve posted on this site,I would really appreciate any feedback as to how likely it is that some of my things can be considered for publication in some journal etc.
thanks alot for any comments or suggestions! |

It not only tells you about the magazines and journals, but it give you the person’s name you should contact, what their submission guidelines are (like what kind of poems they want) and so forth. The first place I sent in work rejected me because they didn’t print "religious" work.
I didn’t pay close enough attention. The second place I tried was called Contemporary Rhyme, so I sent in some of my more contemporary rhyming pieces and one got selected for publication. If I always stay at fifty percent acceptance I’ll be shocked! Some additional advice, if there are any places locally that publish everyone, it wouldn’t hurt to get published there, even if it’s a free newspaper or something. When you compose your cover letter, you can say "some of my work has been published in BigTown Beat" and it doesn’t look like your completely green.
Lots of luck, let us know if you get a piece accepted.
