| User | _Dancing_Alone_ | | Topic | plz read... | | Message | ok,i know there was this guy that was pretty pissed that everyone ignored him or didnt comment much on his writes.
i dont think i have the same problem but i cant help it & im sorry.
it seems that ppl look at my work, then just "pass it off",and not give a comment.
i got like 11 veiws & 1 comment;20 views & 1 comment;67 views & 8 comments.
is that normal?
usually when i submit something,i’ll get 0-4 comments.i don’t think my writes are bad or anything and i know that u dont need someone to tell u how good something is to know it yourself.my friend had told me that sometimes comments are hard to give
and i understand that...but i just think this has bugged me for too long & i have to ask...
Is it really normal for this type of reaction from this site?
thnx ................

I you want, I could come up with a list of people who’ve given me well rounded input and send it to you, just send me a PM if you’re interested. |
| User | HWKI | 2005-12-23 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | This is kind of a recent thing, I think. I joined the site about a year ago, and when I began posting, I recieved at least five or six comments on everything I wrote. Then, about seven or eight months ago, the numbers started flagging. There was kind of an influx of younger writers, and some of the names I’d come to see a great deal of around the site, people who wrote very well and were very insightful with their inputs, people like Mithrandir, Kapone, Spiritual Gifts, among others began to drift off and disappear completely. These new writers flooded the posts (and the forums) with a lot of shit talking and mediocre writing (can’t say I’m entirely innocent of that second one). First, there was a drop in the quality of feedback, then it dropped off completely. I’m not going to name names, they know who they are and I think their writing speaks for itself. What I’d suggest doing is finding out who the higher ranking people on the site are by going to the "who’s online" section of the sight, which displays peoples levels, people like Cuddledumplin, and comment on some of their work. They’ll more than likely return the favor.

| User | inspirit999 | 2005-12-23 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | the secret to getting more comments is to be crazy with comments yourself. but don’t go for short comments just to pound up that percentage. if you make a sincere effort to help folks and you will find that 0-4 comments on your work will change. now some works will get the 0-4 comments because of a few reasons 1. it could be so darn cryptic that nobody can "break" into it, 2. your comments need work. 3 there can be another explanation for why those views are so small that is this: you might have locked yourself in dealing with a small circle of people. try branching out to different groups. what I do is surf around finding a person and look at who they consort with on the stalkers list. sometimes I will give a person a comment then ill give a comment to someone on the stalkers list. another thing is to take care of your own first, I am still trying to abide by that rule, it does get difficult. establish your base, meaning those you deal with on a day to day basis then when you have the time reach out to others. also pay attention to those new folks that come in. also refine your comments add dimensions to it you never thought before. allow yourself to be influenced by others with their styles, I have done that with a few writers, that works for how they write too but I’m addressing comments specifically. do all these things and you should have a growing number of comments. if you want an example look to Lorna (lmz) she is one of my stalks, she puts a lot of effort in her comments and in her reaching out. she is one of the best here. I hope this helped you.
