| User | Sasha Lynn | | Topic | Photographers.... | | Message | My parents are finally relenting (after YEARS of pleading) to letting me get a camera. This will be my first ’real’ camera and I have come to realize, after a little browsing, that I am at a total loss as to the best buy. If anyone here knows of a mostly manual, durable, yet somewhat easy to use camera that won’t leave me helplessly broke, I would greatly appreciate the help.
So Far, my number one choice is the Nikon N75

I’d recommend the Nikon D50 to begin with. It’s a relatively new SLR aimed at photography enthusiasts who’ve taken up the hobby. The ISO rises to 800 which covers most daylight conditions and it also boasts an impressive 8mpx like the Canon EOS.
As a camera, the D50 is very well suited to beginners because its main feature is speed, a key step of learning how take good pictures. It also works with all the Nikon and pricier Sigma attatchments and produces good-quality, high resolution photos. It’s pretty darn light too which is a major bonus. I use a Kodak Pro 14n and a full camera bag weighs near to the same as a summer crop of potatoes!
Good luck in your quest; photography is an amazing craft to explore...after poetry of course!

| User | deafeningsilenc | 2006-07-15 | | | Subject | Cameras | | Message | Hey Sasha, how about a Canon EOS 350D? It takes 8-megapixels(this is a good thing), has full manual control but is very easy to use and has auto focus so you don’t have to fiddle too much. It’s a semi-pro Digital SLR so you will have to buy lenses which can be pricey, but the camera itself is very cheap for what its offering. If you want a camera with built-in optical zoom lens, try either a Panasonic DMC-FZ7 Lumix or a Sony DSC-H5 Cybershot. Hope this helped! ;-) |
