 Topic  Suicide Poetry
Message  Why do people insist on posting suicide poetry? Yeah I get it, writing helps you out...One or two posts from a single person I have no problem with, maybe its just their way of doing something other than cutting. But seriously, when every poem you post is just on suicide and cutting, all I have to say is Why?!

Anyone else feel frustrated?

Message  Yeah suicide poetry is dull. I’m not saying people shouldn’t write it (despite the jolly buzz in your tummy it brings. HA HA!) but what they need to do is think OUT SIDE THAT BLOOMIN’ BOX. Where’s the creativity.
I’m gunna cut my wrists today, do, do, do, dooo
So would I if my imagination and creativity was so limited!

Message  writing it feels better than committing it... and for some writing suicide poetry is easier than writing ’happy’ poetry... just an opinion...

Message   I’ve written many suicide poems before. My reason; I didn’t have the guts to actually do it, but the thought of it was nice. Being free from life. Now, not all of my suicide poems are written because of that, though. For some of them, I got the inspiration from movies and things in the news. Not everything I write relfects what I feel and that goes for a lot of others I’m sure. No one can give you a direct answer on why so many people like to write disturbing things such as death and suicide. There are many reasons for your question, but I think that the main reason is basically what you already said yourself; it’s a release. Not everyone can talk out things with people and writing can help that. I say just ignore it if that’s not what your into. Yeah, a lot of depressing poetry is on this site, but there are also a lot of happy and enlightening poems here as well. Stick with those. Don’t let it frustrate you, ’cause you can’t do anything about it but complain. And complaining gets you no where. I should know that very well.

Message  but in the midst of living, you begin to realize that from day one...all we’re doing is dying.

Oh good grief. What a ridiculous thing to say. You’re 18. Nothing about you is dying yet. Physically, you’re still growing in stature and cell reproduction. Mentally, I hope you’re still growing. You’re barely out of adolescence, if, in fact, you are, so you should be learning and your brain still developing. Goodness, the things people say when trying to sound profound.

The fact is, an abundance of poetry on suicide or cutting is just plain boring (which is even beside the obvious fact that most of it is bad poetry - not all of it, but most). It’s like an overabundance of anything - its importance wears away with familiarity. If you want to make a statement that people will listen to, don’t keep saying the same thing. Very quickly, people tune you out. mae

Message  Okay, let’s look at this more methodically.
Suicide comes from latin roots, from "sui" meaning self, and "cide" meaning cut or kill. So literally, "suicide" is "self kill".
Death is inevitable for everybody, but why the heck would anyone want to hasten the inevitable? I’m not particularly fond of living longer, but there’s no way I’m going to throw away what a possibly meaningful life I could have. Call it selfishness or whatever, but God put us here for a reason, and we can’t leave until we know/find out what that purpose is.
Suicide poetry now, would leave the other people with an impression that this person obviously ain’t interested in trying to find life’s purpose to live properly, or it’s just a plea for attention they never had.
All I can say at the end is, there’s no point trying to die too early. Even less logic in writing about dying/killing oneself early.
Cheers

Message  i’m not really into the suicide poerty but in the midst of living, you begin to realize that from day one...all we’re doing is dying. so maybe they’re just more in touch with their death side than most

Message  yeah, obviously. Although I would respect freedom of speech and whatnot, it’s seriously time to move on for them. But maybe they can’t or don’t want to? We cannot judge without knowing their side of the story too.
Cheers, hope this "mystery" will be unravelled soon.
