| User | Bloom2009 | | Topic | Life | | Message | I watch something on Oprah and there’s this movie "The Secret" and people talked about some bullshit of creating the life you really want and being bless for what you have etc etc. As I was bleeding and daydreaming about what kind of life and person I want to be, I said I’d rather be dead than to live, this is not "depression" I’m not always a sad person or emo some like to call it. I believe that eternal life, afterlife, death what every you want to call it is better than living on the planet.
So I want to hear from ya what do you think. What does life means to you?? |

A completely nonsensical statement from the outset. I don’t care whether you look at it objectively, subjectively or sideways, we would not ALL rather die than live.
If you feel your life is pointless, how is dying going to make it any different? Bloom 2009, what point does spilling your own blood have? Make you feel better? For how long?
Azuire, your last two statements are the only ones that make sense. Living a life of service is the only one with meaning. Bloom, all you have to do is open your eyes and look around. There is so much that needs to be done and not enough people to do it.

But you aren’t the first, and you won’t be the last, to question why on earth we continue a seemingly pointless existence, where life has no meaning but to be flitted away...
If you were to die now, thinking you’d done your part for the world, fine. We’ll throw you a parade.
But if you wish to die because it’s easier than giving up the fight, that’s not fine anymore.
For what is life? I will take Schrodinger’s definition, when a living being is not in equilibrium with its surroundings, constantly battling to stay alive, to care for itself and its young.
The whole point is...you’ve got one life. One life to live and one life to spend in the service of other people.
That’s the only kind of life that’s going to have any purpose, and any meaning.
