| User | Lightbringer | | Topic | glasses | | Message | just out of curiousity, how many of you out there need glasses. I know it’s going to be the majority so maybe my question should be how many don’t need them. This is just one of those things that hit me every once and a while "Hmmmm, I wonder........."
Oh by the way, I wear glasses. |

Dorky puppies... (So your puppy eats everything too? There is nothing mine won’t eat...he even was eating the dirty filter for the furnace.) |

I’ve avoided the glasses rush. Age has done a few things to me (my night vision is dreadful) but for the most part my sight has been avoided.
Thank you eyes. |
| User | marysunshine | 2005-01-04 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I don’t wear glasses regularly, but I have them for driving...I can’t see street signs...and it’s getting worse. I am also starting to hold things further away from my eyes while I read. I’ll probably need bifocals soon. Great! I hate how I look in glasses...hate it hate it hate it! I guess I’ll get contacts, but I hate that idea too...getting older sucks. |

| User | eener | 2005-01-03 | | | Subject | Vision impaired | | Message | I’ve worn glasses since I was 7. I was born with both eyes lazy (as a result I broke a lot of dishes when I was younger because I didn’t have depth perception, and I didn’t run when I was little, or so my Mom tells me), but I had that corrected surgically when I was 18. To give you an idea as to how near sighted I am, there have only been 2 or 3 people that I have found over the years to need stronger glasses than me (cuz you know when you are in school and meet someone new with glasses, one of the first things you always do is trade glasses for a second to compare each other’s eyes to see who is worse. 9 out of 10 it was me.)
As for background, my father and all 5 of his brothers wear glasses. My sister wears glasses. One grandma wears glasses full time, my Dad’s parents wear reading glasses, although my lazy eyes came from his Mom. I’ve got another aunt and uncle that wear glasses, and three cousins with reading glasses. Basically my family has a lot of nearsightedness.
I do wonder if there really are more people in the world that have vision problems than don’t. I can only think of 7 people in my Dad’s whole family (22 people in all; aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents) that don’t wear glasses at all, and some of them are young, while the others married in, so they really don’t count. |
