How about dream analysis? What do you think dreams actually are? Tell us anything you want about your dreams.

I always have dreams where I’m off on adventures - like climbing mountains and sailing in boats. I wake up thinking that the dream I just had would make the best story ever - but when I write it down it just looks stupid.
But I have discovered that with a bit of adjusting and editing - dreams can become good stories. |

Well, i was constatnyl fighting her off because my aunt was jealous and was always ripping the canvases up. So I run into my moms bedroom (which is really small) and lock the door, and try to dial my moms number but the numbers are all screwed up and I couldnt get it right. then the door (which was suppose to be locked) was wide open and my aunt came storming in. I ran out with these 2 pieces of art, and gave one to some random girl sitting there (oddly enough...never even met someone that looked anything like her) so I run outside where its all..deserty. This guy is like..gardening and a baby elephant was helping him (odd) and I run to the road..only to see 3 red vans parked down the street. I run back up the driveway, turn back and see a Leopard chasing a tiger (they were playing) and off in the distance a lightning storm. When I looked back the leopard winked at me, and ran off.
And sadly thats all I remember...it was so..wierd. |

I had a dream once last year in college that my Dad was raping me.
I had another dream in which I gave CPR to a drowned mouse because Mom (who hates mice in reality) wanted me to save it. At the beginning of the dream, the mouse was a gray dirty rat, running all around. The rat fell into a bucket and drowned, becoming a white and small mouse, very clean. I fished it out, gave it CPR, it lived and Mom was very happy at me. I know there’s probably lots of symbolism in the dream, but I’ve never been able to figure it out. The colors were so vivid.
Most of my other dreams have always included huge houses with countless rooms, and me going throughout the house, searching for I don’t know what. Some of the houses in my dreams are just huge expansions of real life houses I’ve been in (like in one of my dreams, my Grandma’s house was a dusty, dirty, old mansion with many stories). The lights are always dim, and I’m always searching, or looking around.
I had a dream once where one of my friends who I haven’t spoken to in a long time died in a war (he’s in the Navy now and I have no way to contact him, so that still scares me). But it was weird because his best friend who is also one of my exes was in there as well. I was the girl they were both in love with (I did date both of them in real life shortly), but at different times. I remember seeing their ghosts and seeing smoke and the ruins of a city. I was wearing a dress. It reminded me of one of those romantic tragic war movies. I even felt the pain of losing a lover in the dream. I was very confused when I woke up.
Another time I dreamed of a flannel on my dresser that I had never seen before. I woke up in the morning, and there it was, right on my dresser, just like I had pictured it. Mom said that Dad had given to me because he didn’t want it anymore. This started a whole flannel craze with me, but it was pretty surreal, I thought. I was like, 12 years old at the time.
One of the first dreams I remember having (when I was like 10 or something) was being on a boat with Aladdin and the genie. The genie was the only part of the dream that was cartoon, and the rest was real and everything was in color. The boat was like one of those huge vacation crusiers. |

One of those parts was the stairs to the basement. Since my room was missing a wall I could see the incomplete door to the stairs. I started having vivd dreams about a huge fire around the stairs. It recurred until we moved out of that house...
I don’t remember how the conversation started but i found out a couple years ago from my aunt that before we had moved into that house, most of the inside was destroyed by fire.
It was really creepy....
I don’t even know what it means...it’s not like it was a premonition like magnicat
but other than that one dream...
I love dreams too...
when else can you live your life out in such different ways... |

Going to bed is like a movie for me, I always lie down looking forward to tonight’s crazy adventures. And a lot of the time the dreams are disturbing and very weird... but I kinda relish the horror of it cos I think dreams are just our heads talking shite as they unwind all the stuff you saw/heard/read that day.
For the most part.
I think dreams can also be damn scary when they come true. Or just so weird that they’re scream-out-loud scary. And when you’re terrified in the middle of the night, no amount of rationality works lol!
The weirdest dreams for me are the ones where you’re in a surreal environment that feels *so* realistic. And comfortable. I had a recurring dream the other day, I had the dream once before this, around this time last year because I told my boyfriend about it. And there’s a house, which I saw briefly when I was thirteen, on a prospectus from the local estate agents in kent, southern England. Gorgeous place :)
I’m weirded out by living in this house that exactly matches that photo, so long after. I might have said "oh, you just think it looks like that house, you made a comparison so you can explain it."
If it wasn’t for the fact that in my dream the house was in sevenoaks, just like in reality. How did I remember all those details? if it’s stuff we see everyday... what could triggered a tiny thing like that? Or is it in some way important?
*Dun Dun Dunn!*
I LOVE dreams! |
| User | magnicat | 2005-02-04 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | i have had very strange dreams since i was a child. i used to have night terrors quite frequently when i was younger. now, only once-in-awhile. in almost every case, i have pre-dreamed a lover in my life. no lie. in almost every case, i have dreamed that we were together before we were together. i have often had dreams of premonition, like i dreamed the tsunami. it sounds ludicrous, but it’s true. i also dreamed the war.
very vivid stuff. it’s scary sometimes, ’cause i can’t really distinguish what may be real and what may not.
i do believe that dreams carry very important messages about our day to day living. if we can find the meaning behind the dreams, they can be very helpful in our lives. |
