Poetry should be for you and you alone, if it happens to be what the public and the critics like, then bully for you. But either way I think you should enjoy writing what you write and always take pleasure in it.

I know what you mean... my poetry’s not gonna stand up in front of any die-hard critics and so for that I’ll never attempt publication, because I write it as a hobby and enjoy it. I don’t mind crits here and at PFFA (a diff site I use), because it helps me learn, but lit. crits are merely there to savage you and... what’s the point?
Mt prose though, I think is where my forte lies and am currently working on a children’s fantasy book. I’m over thirty chapters in, and very close to the end, and am weriting with a view to publication, because I think it is good enough. But I’ve been writing as long as I remember, and even if I never "succeed" commercially, everytime I finish something I succeed for myself, and will continue to do so til I die...
