Oh, my 9yr old wanted me to ask you what dirty rice is. She saw a commerical for it and wants to know if it’s really dirty. lol I couldn’t help her as I have no friggin’ clue what dirty rice is. lol
Nope, when I get out of here there will be no looking back! Three more days. I’m trying every trick I know to make the days go by faster, but so far nothing’s working. Oh well, I’ll be out of here eventually. Isn’t it funny how relativity works? I think L.L. Cool J (oooh he’s hot lol) put it best when he said "Put your hand on a hot skillet and a minute feels like an hour. Put your hands on a hot woman and an hour feels like a minute." lol I’ve always loved that line.
What kind of movies do you like to watch? Any favorite actors/actresses?

I bet you will run away from that job and never llok back. lol. Thanks for the compliments on the poem on hookers. Brewing is a good thing, I feel. Those are the best poems sometimes. The ones you sit with for awhile. I feel like writing again, so I’ll check in here tomorrow if I can.

| User | | 2006-02-17 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I’ve got a couple brewing, but every time I put them on paper, i don’t like the form or the way it’s coming out..so I’ll just keep letting them brew until their ready. I hate it when that happens! lol I really liked your piece you did about the prostitution. that was really good.
Only 5 working days left until I’m out of this hellhole. Then I never have to see my mother in law again..what a lovely thought. I know, I’m bad. lol But my husband and I have a deal. I don’t force him to be around my mother and he doesn’t force me to be around his. Our mothers are very similar in personality, which is probably why they can’t stand each other, and we don’t like either of them. lol I can’t believe it’s only 12:30. I would swear I’ve been here for atleast six hours already! lol Oh well, way it goes, huh?

I need to start reading again. I don’t get to that often. I miss it now.

| User | onetruesmartass | 2006-02-15 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Hey Maggie,
I haven’t tried the smothered chicken yet, but hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to. Sounds like you had a really nice Valentines Day. Hubby and I didn’t really do anything, with him working grave it’s kinda hard. My youngest daughter, Alora, got the cutest dark pink teddy bear from her little boyfriend. It was so sweet.
I’ve told Chell to come on in before, I’ll let her know again. She’s pretty damn cool.
I’m at a wierd point with my stuff right now, almost like I’ve just lost interest in writing for a little while. Which is fine, I can just float around reading and playin’ in the forums! lol I figure I’ll post something when it comes to me.

| User | Magnolia Steele | 2006-02-15 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Hi Traci! Sorry I did not post right away. Yesterday was V-Day, and mine went just fine. I got him this cute singing monster devil toy that sings in a deep voice and dance. It came with a heart shape box of toffee, then got him a box of choclates, a card, and a ballon. He got me this cute little leopard stuff animal, Queen Ann chocolates (he knows how much I love them things) and a box of choclates, that he ate half of. lol. So we watched tv, and ate chocolates. We did not have the Italian meal, rather leftover yellow rice, greenbeans, and a hot cooked whole young chicken, roasted in garlic and herbs. It was not what I planned, but I had fun anyway. I did not wear the sexy outfit, I knew he would be dead tired and think I wanted to go at it right then. So I had on my pj’s and furry slippers. And he said that was more of a turn on because I look so innocent that he just want to eat me alive. We cuddled all night, even when we went to bed. He was way to tired fro sex, so I didn’t even try to seduce the boy. lol. I realized I was tired also. I feel alseep really fast. Anyways, I decided not to focus on what did not happened, but rather on what did. He rushed straight after work, in all that last minute crowds, to get me a gift, so as to not come home empty-handed. He loved the leftovers, and had seconds, and he loved the choclate, fore there is hardly any left. And even though he was tired, he held me most of the night. And kept saying he loves me, and I mean the world to him. So, I plan to put my sexy iea to work Friday!!! Yup, because then it is just the weekend and he can stay up as long as he want to...that’s what I’m talking about!
I have not found those crimes books you spoke of, but I’ve only tried one store also. I’ll keep my eyes glued for a book of that nature.
My poetry is becoming far more mature and scaling more topics outside of love or pain. I’m so proud of myself. I think it’s true, with age, comes a change in your view of life, and how you handles problems. It’s coming through in my writings. I just want to write till I die!
Did you try the smothered chicken yet?
Tell Chell hello for me please. I really like her alot. ask her to join us sometimes. I found a nora fan here, Swanne, she is young and a brillant writer in my opinion. I told her to hang out here anytime. Slowly but surely they are coming out the woodworks!

This weekend has been crazy! My job prospect has become more solid, I’m almost pretty much sure I’m going to get the job, I just hate to be positive about it and have it fall thru, y’know?
Ugh, three weeks ago our furnace went out on us, no biggie since we have a pellet stove. Then Sat. our pellet stove went out so we spent most of the day trying to find the right part to replace, couldn’t find it and ended up buy two space heaters that work better than the damn pellet stove!! lol It was nuts.
Took the girls to see Hoodwinked on Sun. It’s a really cute movie. Chell says hi. Wow, I am in such a good mood! So how the heck are you?

| User | Magnolia Steele | 2006-02-10 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | My week has been very busy! I have written quite a few new posts and I’m proud of my hard work. You may want to take a look at it. Have you posted new stuff I can take a peek at. I’m trying to read more often on this site. I tend to like it more than the forum at times. Yeah, losing weight is a drag. lol. I gained most of my weight back this week...Chinese takeout...more than once. I know, it’s a shame. But, I love every morsel of it! I have no regrets...till I look in my closet and see all the outfits that are snug fitting. lol. I’m gonna try out what that woman did...four small meals a day...it can’t hurt. lol. do you need any Tums? lol.

Yeah, I know how those diets that aren’t quite diets go. There was a lady at the bar I went to Sat. that has lost over 60lbs by making herself eat 4 small meals a day. I’m trying, but so far the only thing I’ve given myself is indigestion! lol But I’m tryin’.
So how has your week been? I gave notice at my job, so pretty soon I’m outta here! WOOHOOO! I’ve got a job prospect already, but I’m trying to see if I can find something better before I take it. I don’t like the idea of getting up at 5am! lol

| User | Magnolia Steele | 2006-02-08 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I would suggest try Reynoldswrap.com for recipes that are fast and gourmet. I use it all the time. And they have healthy meals recipe as well. I made some gylcerin sopa molds with gardenia scent a few months ago. I’m still interested in learning about soaps. Right now, I just buy the block and melt it down. It’s fun really, and take less time then cooking! lol. Yeah, try your local thrift stores, you would be surprised how many give up good books. That’s where I got most of my collection of all my books. Movies...I might take myself to go see one. Or I might walk on the beach tomorrow. It is sunny here in CA, right now. I plan to enjoy it. I bought that exercise tape to lose 30 lbs. I want to go back to a size 6. I am like you, rarely eat, if I do, it’s a lot and at night. lol. I try to eat healthy, but fall off the wagon so to speak. lol. Food is just so damn good! I use to walk, but it rains in my new home town alot, so it’s hard to get in the spirit again. Now that it is sunny, I will walk some and use that dvd like my life depended on it! lol. I am hoping to slim down by summer. I’m not fat now, just curvy. I just want to shed some of this junk in the trunk and hood. lol. Flat tummy...I can see it really. lol. Must....be....strong. I see no chocolate, I eat no chocolate. lol. I’ll keep you updated with my diet that is not quite a diet.

| User | onetruesmartass | 2006-02-08 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I think I’ve read Two of a Kind..if it’s the one I’m thinking of it’s really good. That sounds like a great weekend. Maybe this weekend I’ll hang out with my man and play video games. $25 for three perfumes? Damn that’s a good deal. I like their glycerine soaps. I was thinking of checking out recipies on line and seeing what I might be able to find. I want something that’s going to be easy and not take up alot of time, y’know? Something I can throw together when I get home from work but tastes good and good for us. I’m trying to do this whole healthy eating thing now. It’s a pain in the butt. I gotta get my eating back on track. I’ve gotten myself into the rather ugly habit of eating once a day, usually at night and not the best stuff in the world, so I’m having a really hard time dropping weight. Oh well, I’ll figure it out. I think I’ll hit the used book stores this weekend and see what J.D. Robb books I can find. I really liked the one I read before. Then again, I might just snuggle up in bed the whole weekend and not worry about it! lol Hm, maybe we’ll take the girls to the movies. That would be fun, and they want to go see that Hoodwinked. Damn it. lol

Later on Sunday, I took care of last minute things to go out of town to my cardiologist office for a echocadriogram. All in all it was a great weekend. I am still reading my book. I plan to read some other authors after I’m done with this one by Nora. I don’t want to overload. lol. I got two more books of her’s Monday, while out of town at Borders bookstore. I got Ceremony In Death And Seduction In Death. 7 more to go to make the collection complete! I will head back to Borders next month and get the rest of them. And I got a Denise Austin exercise dvd. Then I got a sweet deal at Victoria’s Secrets, I got three perfumes for $25.00. Life was good Monday. that was one of my small shopping sprees. lol. Actually I have a great bit of them, I shouldn’t have that many more to collect. I have been writing most of the day. after my trip to Wal-Mart, I’ve just been lazy. I think I earned it. I just feel drained today. I know I went to bed late. Maybe that is it. I hope your Saturday is going well.

I’ve gotten into Birthright, and OMG that is a good book! I’m almost finished with it, and I cannot wait to see who it is that’s killing the people on the dig site. I think it’s her mother..the people that are getting killed are the ones that pissed Callie off or would bug her. Hmm..I’m probably going to finish it tonight.

| User | Magnolia Steele | 2006-01-28 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I loved Birthright! some ladies ask me about my book club I’ve been planning now. that felt good. And they all liked Nora Roberts!!! I thought I give you the ingredients to some recipes and you use your own eye for measuring.
Smothered Chicken: Chop up a small onion. Rinse off chicken pieces you will fry and dry them. In a ziplock bag, add flour, salt, pepper, Louisiana seasoning (anykind, as long as it is from Louisiana). Toss in chicken and shake. Have a deep dish skillet preheating and measure oil. Fry chicken as you would normally do. Discard flour mixture. When chicken is fried, set aside. Drain skillet till there is barely enough oil residue from frying the chicken to coat the bottom, but SAVE the oil that is poured out. Add onions to the skillet. Saute till translucent. Add fresh flour to pan and form a reaux or gravy, about half a cup. Add remain oil and some salt and pepper to taste. Stir til it becomes like gravy. You may have to add water to losen it up some. You must stir alot until it looks like a "off white" gravy. Add chicken back to skillet. Let simmer for 10 to 20 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
Red Beans And Rice: Soak 1lbs of Red Kidney Beans over night ahead of time. Rinse beans and sort. Chop up some green 1 green pellpepper, 1 onion, I arm from the celery bunch, green onions ( a bunch will do). Slice up some mild sausage links. Combine beans, veggies, and meat in a pot with the needed amount of water. Add a bay leaf. Sprinkle a tad of red pepper flakes ( go real easy with that), Louisiana seasoning, pepper, Italian seasoning mix, parsley flakes, and chicken bouillion. You can other meats to this like salt pork, hamhock, cooked chicken meat or it’s bone. Let cook til beans are tender and you can mash them well. That may take two hours or so. Stir often, checking water content making sure the pot don’t burn. Add water if it seem to low. At the last twenty minutes add a stick of butter, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and sprinkle salt to your taste. If it taste bitter add more sugar, but not alot. When beans are done, mash them along side of the pot til creamy. Serve with rice and cornbread. Fried meats accompany this meal mostly.
I have given you my personal recipes. I hope this helped and I hope you enjoy your meals. I’m a little sleepy now, so I’ll go to bed now. Tell me if you wish to know other dishes. Now you have the taste of Louisiana within your reach. Let me know how each dish came out.
