| User | Webmaster | 2004-05-12 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Well, it has to do with programming. When the submissions are called from the database adding a property 0, and 1(yes or no) to each submission to create a tickbox would use up a bit of resources over the 10,000+ submissions we have. It’s the same thing to let the people just add the real title after a little time of having it posted. It’s a good way of letting people learn how to use the edit features. That’s the same reason I don’t have the title thing automatically change it to untitled whenever people don’t write a title. It’s just a temporary thing, it’s changable through the edit title in the editing features. |
| User | ShadowHarlequin | 2004-05-11 | | | Subject | tick box? | | Message | Well when people are choosing the catagories and stuff, have an option that says "Do not display in latest subbmissions" or something, i think thats what you were getting at? |
| User | Webmaster | 2004-05-10 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Thanks =). What do you mean by a tick box though? |
| User | ShadowHarlequin | 2004-05-10 | | | Subject | Yeah sure :) | | Message | Yeah, makes sense, ill be working on giving some good feedback soon, that "norecent" thing, why not make that a tick box when you submit?
I can see what you mean by all this though, but stillgreat to see some REALLY good writers on here, and an already great site continuing to evolve, nice work ^_^ |
| User | Webmaster | 2004-05-07 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | naw, the point is to take the site with patience. if someone gives crap comments they need good comments to guide. lots of yound depressed girls here seem to think this place is a submission gallery >_<.
Case senarios:
:: We don’t restrict.
Action: Girls submit every writing in their poetry notebook, they don’t get feedback, they give very short comments to bunches of people just saying "that was great!" to try to get more comments. Refer to your-poetry.com for example.
:: We don’t have a ratio.
Action: Many won’t even notice they’re receiving tons more comments than given. People who flood the same comment can get away with it easier. People can see who might actually reciprocate a comment.
Still annoying-
People spend time on comments, give long details and time. Then when they post a piece they get a ditsy, "ur too smert =) =) =) lolololll!11". It’s frustrating. The young girls could use help too. I can’t ban or restrict just because naivety.
Partial solution-
Add the title "norecent" to the title of your writing then change it once after a bit of time has passed. This’ll avoid the recent submissions area comments and let, people stalking you, and other friends that pass by your page often, be the only ones to comment on your writing.
Give and get, simple concept. Feedback should be reciprocated. Time should be spent giving thought. Why it’s so rare is a lack of common sense, reevaluated decisions with laziness. Lack of respect and a greed for more... too many depressed girls. ..summer. |
| User | Webmaster | 2004-04-28 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | You post= you ask for comments. Get comments, give comments. People still took the time to look through your work and write about it. You should be able to reciprocate that time in order to post again. This site isn’t about making submission galleries but about getting feedback and advice on your writing. People still took the time to comment whether away or not, and that’s what you wanted when you first posted it. It’s kind to give back to those who gave their time. Numbers represent action, quality or not. You got a bunch of comments, now you want to post more writing without giving back? That’s not the way the site works else we’d be as crappy as your-poetry.com. |
