 Topic  president elite?
Message  ya know it’s bad enough that we have to listen to these two bufoons in real life slug it out and court us for our votes, knowing damn well that it’s all business for both of those fools, but do we have to MOCK it here on elite skills.

We do not need an elite skills president. What we need is some peace from all this political BUNK.

 Message  LEARAH’s HERE!

Sorry I haven’t been around but it’s just been on e nightmare after another. However I’m back online for a fe whours each day at college and so can kinda keep up with you guys. However I can’t log on at home and that’s what I miss; there’s no way to comment on poetry or try to organise the mess that’s been left behind.
I’m doing my best though,
great to see you guys are just as I left ya.
Lea :)

Message  Seems we are losing our feather pickers left and right. Learah hasn’t been around, and now Mr Fizzle is leaving us . . . ah well, I guess that’s how it always goes. Be nice to see her come back and get things rolling again!

Message  Well, look, like I said..we’re human beings before we’re "elite website leaders". And I, for one, am not the personality that keeps my mouth shut when someone is being disrespectful. To some who know me, my attitude is a negative thing...but those who feel that way are the meekest of my pals. Nost of my friends are very much like me...strong, independent individuals with zero tolerance for bullshit.

I admit, I can be a bit abrasive at times when I shouldn’t, but I’m only a bitch when it’s necessary. Don’t tell nameless..but I really am a big softie...Sshhhhhhhhh!

I do apologize if I have offended anyone...but I’m not likely to change my personality anytime soon. And I won’t apoogize for fighting back.

As for Jimmy, I’ve seen him get on a couple of people’s rears who absolutely 100% deserved it, but he’s a stand up guy and this site’s a handful for one person. And, well...it’s his site to do with what he pleases. I accept that.

I think we’re moving along just fine right now...except I miss my pal Learah. She works her tail off for this site...unfortunately she can’t please the masses.

Thanks for the input mae. You know I respected you immediately. Still do.

Message  That should have said the SITE seems to have quieted down. Sorry. mae

Message  Vancrown is right when he says the leaders of the site should be held to a higher standard and that they don’t always practice that. Kristina, webbie is as guilty as the others, perhaps more so if you get on his bad side, of being disrespectful and abusive as the other leaders. I was on this site before under another name and I experienced it personally. The does seem to have quieted down over the last couple of weeks.

And I tend to agree with Sierra about the awards - I’ve said as much in the feather nominations thread. My suggestion was to make the nominations be voted on by the members of the site but that was rejected. Personally, until I read this, I’d put the whole thing out of my mind because it makes no difference in anything I do. Just my thoughts. mae

Message  As with any social group, there are always gonna be buttholes the rest of us have to suffer. I’m glad you posted these replies. I just didn’t want you to think I was going after you personally, because I wasn’t. If anything, I sympathize.

I think Sierra has a legitimate concern and I suppose I’d be upset if my feather vanished, and I’ve talked to her about it and suggested she repost the poem and allow JR the opportunity to fix the problem. She apparently felt slighted, when in fact it seems it was just very bad timing, but a glitch and nothing done in retaliation for whatever . . .

As for us, I appreciate your explanation and no worries. We’re golden.

Thanks again for your reply.

Message  Don’t get me wrong, I do understand your point, but I think that most of the users that get a sharp tongue-lashing deserve it.

Thanks for the input, by the way.

Message  No, Vancrown, I really didn’t assume that your post was directed at me at all. However, I do think that some people think that I have some sort of authority around here. I wish I did and I honestly would not abuse it. But I have no more authority than any other regular user. And I do not feel like I should have to bite my tongue and not speak my mind.

I’m extremely blunt. I always have been. When I see someone on here being abusive or disrespectful, I will most certainly say something to them about it, and nine times out of ten they retaliate and a vebal battle of sorts ensues. For example, we recently had a user who was wishing death on other people and their children and spitting filth all over the forum. If I had some authority, he would have been banned the first day. Instead, I had to log on every day for a month or so and read all of the insults and filth that he had left on my page. I’m sorry, but diplomacy took a hike. I don’t feel that I needed to kiss his ass at all. If I have to take it, I’m going to dish it right back.

It’s great for leaders to be diplomatic. And I am a leader, but I’m a human being first, with zero tolerance for disrespect. I’m sorry if I come off as a bitch sometimes, but sometimes that’s what it takes to put someone in their place. I do try to help out in here and it puts me in a position where I’m viewed as a site mod, but I’m really not a mod at all. I’m simply trying to help out.

I think the site has really calmed down since a couple of users have not been around. I haven’t seen a knock-down, drag-out in weeks. I think the site is just fine right now.

Message  And, Kristina, leadership can also be characterized as those who have been longstanding members, those trusted by the site admin, or anyone who performs a duty or task for the site, or really . . . anyone who answers threads like these and answers with the authority of certain knowledge. It could even be a poet with prodigious skills that others look to for guidance . . .

Thanks for answering but my post was not directed at you.

Message  Neither have I. As I said, I wasn’t pointing fingers, but this thread is about a President of Elite, and I was referring to others in a position of leadership here, whether implicit or official. Who nominates poems, who judges them, who determines or submits bans, or acts as a helper for the webmaster? If no one is, then this thread and the feather pickers threads serve no purpose. So, I assume these ppl exist, though I do not know who they are. I should have thought that was obvious? I’m sorry you missed my point. I will try to be more clear from now on.

Message  You’ll also see that certain users have double awards of the same kind. It’s a system glitch. If you e-mail Learah, she’ll put the feather back on the deserving post.

Message  Sierra, you lost your feather because of a glitch in the system. You weren’t the only one who did. The others’ feather were replaced.

See, that’s the thing. You are a little hostile in assuming that you lost your feather for whatever you said in pms (Nobody is reading them) when in all actuality, it was a glitch in the system.
