| User | abuzzbuzz92 | | Topic | Human verses Animal | | Message | What do all of you think about this story:
We were having a food donation campaign in school a few days ago, where we all were supposed to get stuff for the victims...
We got like 630 packets, from every student except one...
He would rather feed a hungry cat that roams around our school than people who have to live 7000 metres above sea level and freezing temperatures...
When I heard this I went to him and he told me that animal lives are more important then humans
I think that it is ridiculous... ya animals deserve foods but we need them more
what do you all think? |

And since I’m from Louisiana, I can tell you don’t know shit about New Orleans or it’s exits out of the city! And I can tell you are not familiar with the state’s poor system and crooked goverment. I think you you need to remove your foot from your mouth, before you go around kicking anyone. I may not feed a hungry dog, but I sure would feed him you...one less idiot to live among.

| User | ghostknight | 2006-02-18 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | greed is no answer at all. it’s merely the best one we have, really, if you ask my opinion (which you didn’t so feel free to destroy this post =) ) apparently it’s not possible at this point in time to inspire people to progress our species simply for the good of our kind, we need to offer material rewards for doing so. god, i get more and more depressed as i get into this discussion. |

no offense, but by the time everyone has enough money to care about the rainforest, it’s probably going to be long gone. wishful thinking, i’ll give you that. people are not as greedy for a clean environment as they are for money. if you could get ten million dollars for cutting down some trees, would you really say no? be honest. it’s a hard choice. and in the real world many people a day are faced with such a choice. more people give in than don’t. and of all people who might care about a clean environment, westerners are the least caring of the bunch. just look up our environmental policies versus other countries. we’re a joke. i wish i could agree with you, i really do. |

| User | ghostknight | 2006-02-17 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | no kidding! but as long as money is the reason our society continues to advance, i doubt we’ll ever see the day. when greed takes over, the environment doesn’t stand a chance. god, that’s depressing. |
| User | | 2006-02-17 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | You’re right, Ghost, there are alot of natural and planetary evolutional things that take out animals and habitat just as much as humans do. And while I do prefer toilets to holes in the ground and lighters to sticks, we do need to do something to make this planet better for every living thing on it..except bugs..lol just kidding! With our supposedly higher intelligence and ability to use tools, we could make habitats, control our population and stop using so many chemicals and such that are horrible pollutants. We’ve come along way with recyling and companies seeing the profit in using "green" materials, but we’ve got alot more to go. I just wish we could come up with something that would benefit humans and the planet alike.

| User | ghostknight | 2006-02-17 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | even if we are largely responsible for altering nature, wouldn’t that make it even more imperative for us to try and restore the balance?
it should be noted, unless you want to live in a hut made from branches and leaves, and ultimately be responsible for every aspect of your survival, humans need to alter their environments in order to advance their society. otherwise we’d still be crapping in holes and rubbing sticks together to make fire.
the natural arrangement of the food chain doesn’t stay the same, anyway. millions of years ago the dinosaurs were at the top. during the last ice age humans climbed their way up to take their place. nature changes itself as much as we change it. volcanoes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, all equally as destructive, not to mention evolutionary destruction in regards to viruses and plagues...

| User | | 2006-02-17 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I absolutely agree, Kanu. Whenever I watch the Discovery Channel or Animal Planet (which is quite often lol) I always hear about animals having a harding time hunting or finding water sources because we’ve taken over so much of their land and killed off so much of their prey. Besides hunting, we’re running out of endangered animals because their starving to death before they even reach adulthood. Not to mention the rate of infanticide in predators has gone up because males are running out of roaming land and pretty much need to stay where they are.
Oh..and Kanu, if you know of any openings, I would love a job feeding elephants! lol

| User | kanu | 2006-02-17 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | animals generally suffer more a tthe hands of human intervention than human charity - I think it is gross arrogance to think that the animals require us to work hard to feed them (who wants to work to feed elephants) - there is a sufficient arrangement in nature for everyone to eat from the ant to the elephanmt and if living entities are hungry on this planet it is most likely to humans screwing around with the planet or opening too many slaughter houses |
| User | ghostknight | 2006-02-16 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | not sure what to say. in a way, i applaud this individual for his actions, only for the fact that in truth we need people like him.
on a grand scale, there are heavily funded (though maybe not enough sometimes) organizations dedicated to the helping of both needy people and animals, so really, looking at this situation in terms of one individual seems to be missing the big picture.
but i can see your concern, don’t get me wrong. |
| User | Kwanying | 2006-02-15 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Both human and animal lives are important.
It all depend on the situation.
Some people have a better relationship to animals insteed of humans, so they care more about them, insteed of some humans he doesnt know.
Or maybe he just cant imagine that people cant get food for themself.
There can be many reasons to why he said like he did.
It doesnt mean that he doesnt care about humans, animals might just mean more to him.
(it would help to know his age, to say more clearly why he said like he did).
Most people tend to do more for humans than animals.
Maybe he thought nobody would take care of the animals, give them food and such.

| User | | 2006-02-14 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | But maybe to the guy that would rather give the food to the stray, the other lives weren’t important. We can’t make someone care if they don’t. At least he was willing to help somewhere, how about giving some credit for that?
