| User | Chell | | Topic | The Body Of Jesus | | Message | If a body was discovered in Jerusalem, in an archeological dig, and through carbon dating, lash marks on the body, thorn marks, nail holes through the wrists (or hands- depending on religious affiliation) and feet, and a spear wound in the body’s side, it was found to be the body of Jesus Christ, would it be the end of Christianity? Would people continue to hold onto their beliefs?
If it was brought to light after his body was found that he had children, a lineage that lives today, would they be held as religious leaders? |

There is no reason to think that Jesus did NOT have brothers and sisters - at least half brothers and sisters. James was his brother and possibly Jude. It is a belief of the Catholic church that Mary remained a virgin her whole life, not of all Christian denominations. mae |
| User | mae | 2006-02-26 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Chell, there is absolutely no reason - substantiated, anyway - to think that Jesus did NOT |

| User | Magnolia Steele | 2006-02-26 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | No I would not. I’m sure Mary and Joseph had more kids. And even the scriptures say he did. But lately I’ve been doubting all I read in it, so never mind me. I think JC had younger siblings.

| User | Seele | 2006-02-25 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Hummm...dunno really.
I suspect Christians will find a way around the dead guy.
Also, Jesus wasn’t the only person put on a cross and whipped or whatever. Back then it was a way to kill of crinimals and stuff. Also the body wouldn’t be intact enought for them to know for sure it was Jesus.

| User | Magnolia Steele | 2006-02-24 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Yes, we have control over most things. But for freak accidents, that is fate. I feel if God is not acting on saving the world because he has a point to prove to Satan, his angels, and lastly to us. The sad thing to me is his point matters more than our lives.

| User | | 2006-02-24 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I highly doubt the bible. To me, it was written by man (as in human beings) which automatically makes it faulty, it wasn’t even started until three hundred years after the cruxifiction and there are so many different "versions" and theories with it that it’s just not trustworthy.
However, I have absolutely no doubt there is a God.

| User | DarkenedSoul | 2006-02-24 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Not for me.I’ve seen and experienced too many things in my half-life to doubt the validity of the Bible. |
| User | Chell | 2006-02-24 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Here’s a good reference for Rue’s post:
http://biblicalstudies.info/James/james.htm
The point, I believe, that Rue was trying to make was that there is archeological proof that Jesus existed.
The article quotes biblical scripture that refers to James being the uterine brother or Jesus Christ ( Mark 6:3, Matthew 13:55-56, John 7:5, Acts 1:14, Gal. 2:11-13; Acts 15; 21:17-26
To quote the article:
"The James Ossuary has been on display at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada, since November 15th (continues through December 29). It is displayed in a third floor room by itself in a well-lighted case. The walls of the room are filled with information about James, ossuaries, Jewish burial customs, and the James ossuary. The ossuary was cracked in transit from Israel to Canada but has been restored by the museum staff. "
I’m not questioning whether he lived. I believe that Christ lived and had many wonderful ideas about how we should treat each other. I don’t thin ’religion’ was one of them...
And, I wonder, what would happen if they found an ossuary containing the inscription:
"Yeshua Christus bar Yosef" (Jesus the Christ, Son of Joseph) if it would change Christianity... |
| User | | 2006-02-24 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Well, rue, since ghosty is so incredibly excited about your point, what, exactly, IS your point? That there may or may not have been an ossuary of James, the brother of Jesus? And that means.....what, exactly? mae |
