manson (brian warner) was a hero of mine. of course, i’m a 90’s child, born in 84. i listen to music that goes back all the way into the 60’s, and the coolest thing about manson was how he not only got people’s attention just when a figure like him was needed, he built his image on the influence of history, not just shock value alone. there are plenty of examples of manson-esque artists in hostory- alice cooper, david bowie (go ziggy!), kiss, and the list goes on. i respect manson for being able to continue the shock form of entertainment while at the same time keeping it legitimate. ’portrait’ is his greatest album ever.
