Message  mind over matter, i say. magick is the wrong word for it, it’s giving credit to the wrong thing instead of human abilities.

Message  Rokhal, you’re very right. If magic was commonplace, it would indeed become mundane. It’s not the great mystery that it is made out to be, merely a manipulation of energies that too many people choose to be blind to. It’s not so frivolous as love spells and wart curses. It’s very old, and though theoretically all people are capable of it, the reality is that most people will never achieve the level of understanding and acceptance required.

Message  magic has little practical use
i should know i have studied it and used a few spells
the only reason it is considered myth is because it is so hard to believe if you dont really think about it
if our minds somehow aquired the ability to think and feal emotion
aquired life
plus the wide spread belief that their is an all powerful being that created our pathetic lives
why is this so hard to believe
why is what we cant see considered not to exist
simple
it only works if you believe it will
believe until you are proven wrong
a girl iv known sence kindergarden tought me the basics
she never lied to me before
and has been saying the samething sence the 6th grade
i decided to listen

Message  But if we discovered magic and put it to use, how could it become anything less than mundane? Like lightning. Ever worship your toaster oven?

Message  So true. One of the greatest tragedies is the belief that the world has to be mundane, and anything slightly "magical" is wrong and ridiculous.

Message  I believe in magic, good and evil. I think like everything in life there are two sides to balance each other.
There was a cheesy 80’s movie that had a great line about just because you can’t or haven’t seen something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exsist. I like to think that holds true for just about anything. Just because I’ve never seen a unicorn doesn’t mean they don’t exsist. But with the way the world is today, I have to believe in a little magic so I don’t lose my mind.

Message  True...very true...I mean people can’t do much evil with a spork..unless they want to spork your eyes out, lol but still...you have a very good point

Message  That’s right Toxic... not entirely what I meant... what I mean is, someone who chooses to do evil will find the right tool to do it with, and thus create further evil.

Message  the evil tools aren’t evil unless the person behind them is...that’s like saying guns kill...they don’t the people with them do...it’s also like blaming your pencil for a misspelled word.

Message  Okay, I believe in magic...I believe it can be used for good and evil...why do some of you say it is only used for evil?

Message  With all due respect, Mae, attitudes are not the debate here. Ghostknight evidently enjoys provocation; I have found that the best way to deal with such people is to show your strength through superior argument, rather than trying to defend one’s methods. I’ve not heard magic mentioned in some time. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s the topic. Is it real? Is it evil?

Message  oops, i was wrong (see how easy that is?), you do agree with others, as long as they agree with you. they’re obviously not heathens, like us.

Message  ah, mae, you last two posts say more than i could. i hold nothing against individual people, but you seem to take offense when i respond differently to you. you have NEVER admitted that someone else was right, or even the possibility thereof. you are so utterly convinced of yourself that it’s obvious your views are not opinions, but ultimatums. those who belive differently than you must be converted.

Message  Freya, you will find that I strive to maintain an attitude of respect - unless there’s a reason that I’ve lost all respect, and even then I don’t stoop to nastiness or name-calling as some do. That has not been the attitude that I have encountered toward my own beliefs, however. mae

Message  ghostknight, you’re glad someone ’gets it’? Sometimes I think you’re absolutely crazy. Darkened Soul has said she is a now Christian and will never be anything else. She sought answers elsewhere for a time but has now embraced Christianity. When I said the same thing to you on another topic, you were incredibly nasty and insulting. mae

Message  DarkenedSoul, I agree, that’s one of the best outlooks I’ve heard. We search until we find something which fulfills our needs (and they are indeed needs, not simple wants).
