| User | Solomon Disease | | Topic | Being Good | | Message | I think everything has two extreme opposites . . . yin and yang -- you know? Well, if the human species is capapable of creating someone like Hitler then I’m sure we are capable of creating someone so good that it would make you want to be a better human being. We can pretty much do anything, right? Then why do so many people chose to live in mediocrity? Others just weasel their way through life. And ofcourse the rest either shit on you or avoid making eye contact . . . or something like that . . . I dunno. The whole thing is, why is it that we chose to fall in the trap of just giving up? Why don’t we try to be stronger? Why do we usually chose to take the easy way out? Why don’t more people make a stand? Are we that afraid of each other now? Uh . . . I forgot my point again . . . . Whatevers. Basically, what are some your views on being a good human being? |

| User | Solomon Disease | 2006-04-02 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | you’re right "smartass" . . . i don’t know what to tell you. i think earning respect from your kids would be the way to teach them. i teach music. and sometimes i hate it because i have to work so hard to try and connect with some of the kids. i could just sit there and talk and have them just practice but that wouldn’t really be teaching them anything. if kids see that you still have energy in you they will try to make the effort to connect. and i think that’s how you get their respect. ofcourse there are the close minded -- who you couldn’t really connect with no matter what -- and i’m trying to figure out a way to have them open up. some of them have opened up. they contribute their ideas, they put a lot more emotion into their playing, and trying incoorporate their everyday life into expression. which is what kids should be learning -- expression. learning how to show who they are as an individual and helping others realize that it’s ok to be totally unique and your own person. fear of not being accepted keeps a lot of them from opening up -- but once you can somehow show them that we are all human and we all have that one thing in common (the search for happiness -- in small doses or nirvana or whatever) they start become more human. any of it make sense? |

It terrifies me that my two girls are growing up in a society that values Paris Hilton and condems those that make their own path. I’m doing my best to combat it as I’m one that goes my own way, but I feel as if I’m fighting a losing battle. Where do we find like minded people that refuse to conform to society norms? I don’t know. I’ve found a few, but not many. Not to say that conforming makes anyone a bad person, just a sheep. And I for one have no interest in being livestock.

| User | Solomon Disease | 2006-04-01 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | listen man, lets leave god out of this for a bit. bringing god into this is going to cause more problems than solve them. and there are many "versions" of gods words -- so the problems are going to be many and there will be conflict. so let’s leave god out for a sec. and how you deal with god should be a personal issue. i said simple things kanu -- i also said compromising. i don’t think becoming a vegeterian is going to help -- though if people practiced being less glutonous it might help. and you’re right "smartass" a lot of people don’t really care. but those who do need to know there are others out there or else they will conform and eventually lose themselves. |
| User | onetruesmartass | 2006-04-01 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Lazy, sweetie. Human beings are lazy and continue to look for the easy way out. Why? Because we’ve found this amazing market that produces niffty little toys that make every single bit of life easier. We don’t have to vaccuum anymore, there’s a little frisbee lookin’ robot that’ll do it. We don’t have to sweep and mop anymore because we have neat little things that make it easier. We don’t have to hunt and gather, we don’t have to fight for our daily survival. We don’t even have to get off our asses to change the damn channel on the tv! So yeah, we’ve created a lazy, brainless society that has no clue or even cares how to make their own way.

| User | Solomon Disease | 2006-03-31 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | i’m not so crazy about becoming a vegeterian -- i think it is part of the food chain. how about this -- stop lying. |
| User | kanu | 2006-03-31 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Ok - here’s an easy one - become a vegetarian and nurture compassion - you won’t lose anything regardless of your outlook on life and you will be benefiting the world economically, environmentally and yourself biologically - and that’s got nothing to do with spirituality |
| User | Solomon Disease | 2006-03-31 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | lets start with simple and small things. what would be one of the simplest and easiest ways to start being responsible? don’t be shy -- we can start compromising with each other and see where it goes. |
| User | kanu | 2006-03-30 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | which means you have to have to abandon the idea of being the centre of the universe and get in to the spirit of sacrifice and the performance of obligational duty - Anyone feel inspired ? |
| User | insphered soul | 2006-03-30 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | of course its time we start being more responsible |
| User | Solomon Disease | 2006-03-29 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | that’s a good point though -- the fact that we all know what is basically good and what is basically bad. and the thing is some of you -- i think -- don’t want to face up to that because that might mean you might have to start being responsible. but responsiblity went out of our lives a long time ago. is time that we start being more responsible? |
| User | kanu | 2006-03-29 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | So until they are spent there I guess that leaves us with useless suffering |
| User | Fantastic Freya | 2006-03-29 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | Where they’re best spent is rarely where they’re most spent. |
| User | kanu | 2006-03-29 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | for the most part the brain cells of society are best spent applying what great thinkers have concluded rather than re-inventing the wheel and suffering for their pride |
| User | Fantastic Freya | 2006-03-29 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | A great thinker is completely wasted on a society that has no ability to utilise its own brain cells. |
| User | kanu | 2006-03-29 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | So one’s ability to harmonise these precepts on a larger scale will be what determines one between an insignificant and great thinker |
| User | Fantastic Freya | 2006-03-28 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | On an individual basis it’s ridiculously easy to say "this is wrong" -- on a larger scale, you’re not the only one making the judgment. |
