At first I thought she was joking... I mean she was as young as the girl you are talking about, but she was talking about the pills she was going to take. I was in hysterics and tried ot keep her typing while I called my Mother. I live in Chicago, they all live in a small town in Ohio, within a few blocks of each other. My Mom went right over and got to her and talked to her. I didn’t know she had gotten there yet when the girl told me good bye... I was frantic. I’m just glad I was there to make sure she got the help she needed when she needed it, but I hope I never have to go through that again. It’s a terrifying experience. |

Often it’s availible free if you know where to go.
Be assured and take what comfort you can in that this is a very large and growing group, crossing all economic and ethnic boundaries. There is nothing to be ashamed of, it’s an illness that most often can be treated but a possible tragedy not to.
A person who is himself suffering is often the best qualified to spot those others who are at the most risk and try to call attention to that fact. As we’ve both witnessed, lives depend upon it.
If you are here at Elite Skills, that’s a good. Creativity, friendship and caregiving give joy and are excellent reasons to live. This is a good topic and worthy of a title other than untitled. |

Most people, even family members do not know how to recognize or deal with the most serious forms of depression. The depressed often cannot recognize it or choose not to help themselves. Their friends and family therefore must. The good news is that it is most often a chemical imbalance that is easily treatable. When in doubt, seek available outside counciling. It seldom gets better on it’s own.
I’ve lost a good friend by not knowing the signs in time. There are known signs to watch for. Search the web for "signs of depression" and learn. |
