| User | onetruesmartass | | Topic | Child Modeling | | Message | Today my 10yr old daughter was approached by a woman representing a modeling agency. I have her card and of course am going to find out as much as I can about this agency before doing anything, but I’m of two minds about this whole thing.
So, my question is to any moms or dads, or maybe if you were a child model yourself..what do you think? Is it a good idea? What kind of emotional problems can arise from doing this? |

It broke my heart. i decided from then on i wouldnt do it to my child. Anyways 10 yrs old is a little to old. They go like to 12. then they go to bigger things. If you wait untill she 13. SHe can do it longer. Try pageants if she wants to model. YOu can never be too old and plus its a blast.MUch more fun and more leneant. You can do it your way not someone elses. |

But for me the first and foremost thing I’d look at is whether or not this decision would make son happier and better off in life. If he doesn’t want to than it’s an automatic no,(at least in this case) and from what I’ve seen, most of the model agents are just out to make a quick buck here and there and usually don’t amount to much more than that. Those who do, can see the world, walk the stage, meat all kinds of people. But at the same time they’ll never have that "normal" life; or childhood that so many of us dreampt of. Every parent thinks their child is the most beautiful ever(except my parents, far from it) I know I do. Not to say yours isn’t, but While many dreams do come true with this, there are millions more that don’t. Wish you, and your daughter the best |

it depends on the parrent
if you push them too hard it could fuck them up
they will think that is one of the most important thing in life if they fail just imagen the depression
i wouldent do that to my child
but usualy thats how it happens

Pick on someone you own size- I’m sure there are ants in your part of the world. |

Think about how much money advertising companies and such are making out of these kids -- and compare that with how much work the kids have to put in, how much running around there is for the parents, how much effort has to go into looking "just right", when we’re supposed to be trying to teach the kids that appearance is superficial and unimportant. |
