 Topic  industrial, EBM, etc
Message  Ok, I went looking through the topics and couldn’t find one on industrial/ ebm/ aggrotech/ electronic. So I decided to start one. What kinda industrial bands do you like to listen to? and if any of you think that Johan Van Roy is God?

Message  heh, i do rock. i miss the hell out of some ministry. i love how people get all up in arms over genre titles, you can believe that before NIN ’industrial’ was not a category in music catalogues or music stores, but hey, some people don’t remember that far back. makes me sad. i’m sitting here with a book (named ’the new and revised rosk names: how rock bands got their name’ if you want to get technical) and if i’m not mistaken, kraftwerk is the oldest recognized synthesized group (1970) when it comes to electronic anything. in my opinion, the eighties was simply a shitty attempt by a swarm of crappy artists to influence the already well-defined electronic age. the world didn’t recover from the outrageous commercial bullshit until the early nineties, reznor took hold and gave it a name. ministry, front line assembly, aphex twin (yah i consider them part of it), skinny puppy (1983, one of the founders by far), KMFDM- which does mean no pity for the majority... they’re all great bands that set the sound for industrial. there you go.

Message  "KMFDM? (what do those letters stand for anyhow?) "

I read that it stands for "Kein Mitleid Für Die Mehrheit" which is German for "no pity for the majority"

He maybe influential, but he sucks, dude. Legendary bands like front 242, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, Throbbing Gristle and KMFDM were in full swing before Trent Reznor even formed NIN,

Message  Some cool industrial bands are flesh field, suicide commando and psyclon nine. Also people consider some of marilyn manson’s stuff industrial and Nine Inch Nails is like wannabe industrial. Marilyn Manson introduced me to industrial music though, so there is a special place in my heart for him, lol.
