 Topic  ES published?
Message  What do you think about publishing a collection of some really great poems from this site?

It could be called ’"The best of ES- A collection of the best amateur poetry from eliteskills.com", and it would have an explanation of what ES is, for those who don’t know. I think there are some poets here that deserve more recognition. I would do all the work, with Jimmy’s permission, searching the best writes and getting the agreement of the writers.

This is a brainstorm, and I have no idea if it will work out. If you know anything about how to publish something like this, I could really use some advice. Does every poem have to have copyright? Could I have the whole book copyrighted under ES, or Jimmy Ruska, or even my name, with individual credit to each writer in the book?

Message  I sell books in a discount book store. Not much of a job, but I like being busy and it’s nice to play with money.

We buy ’remains’- the books that don’t sell well in the Big Corporate Chain Stores. There are some good books in my store, but for the most part they are really only worth the four of five bucks we ask for.

We have this cute little 50 cent table by the front door. It’s where we put the books that we can’t sell at $3.95 for a year. I have about 200 poetry books to get rid of...

So, If anyone wants to pay for an amateur poetry book, let me know.

But by all means, get it in print- it’ll make a great souvenir.

Message  Well some people write to just get responses/rises out of people, but you wouldn’t know anything about that, now would you

Message  Don’t kid yourself. All writers who take writing seriously are egomaniacs. Think about it...what would be the point of writing if they weren’t? To entertain?

Psshh...

Message  Oh come on, she’s just speaking her mind, and technically the vast majority of "writers" on here consider themselves, and all others who haven’t been published and payed for it amatuers, though I don’t agree with that statement personally.

Message  Just blatantly call all of us Amateur? Not only will you offend half the egomaniacs on the sit (hello?!) but no one would pick up that shit in a book store and open it.

You are out of your element young...whatever you are!

Message  my dad’s a patent attorney. As long as there’s proper acknowledgement and none of the writer’s have a problem with you publishing their work it should be ok. As for a name maybe something like "Elite Ameteurs: A Collection of Eliteskills.com’s Finest"

or something or other like that.

Message  I have no problem with this as long as we get the recognition for our own work. I’d say go for it!

Message  I don’t mind the site name. You totally took and bent my words to fit your own desire to cause trouble. I said for a *BOOK* that people want to *BUY*, ’Elite Skills’ just doesn’t seem like a proper MAIN TITLE. I’m speaking from an advertising point of view ([Poetic Name]: A Collection of Poetry from the Elite Skills Community) or some other *subtle* mention of it would be far more attractive than ’ELITE SKILLS: A COLLECTION OF POETRY’ or something that simply repels people away from it because it gives them the initial impression of pretentiousness.

There was nothing pompous about my suggestion, get over yourself.
