| User | Mister Fizzle | | Topic | deleting submits | | Message | Okay I have been on this site for a little while and have noticed two trends that people tend to follow:
1) deleting your works and usually only leaving around 15 or so at a time up for people to look at.
2) leaving all your works up like some giant museum of poetry that people can lurk and browse through at their own discretion.
My question to you is, to which of these philisophies do you subscribe? And why?
peace,

| User | mae | 2005-04-09 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | beso, I didn’t say I didn’t rewrite or revise. Just because I’m satisfied with it when I write it doesn’t mean it can’t be improved (oh man, it REALLY doesn’t mean that!) Whether I focus on the new ones or not is not the point. The point is a critique that I might receive on an old one from someone out roamng. If I’ve deleted the piece, then I can’t get any more advice on it. mae |
| User | besodemuerte | 2005-04-08 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | but.. this is a site to help people with thier writing.. if you only post stuff you think is good.. and have no intention of rewriting it... why are you here asking for critique? i’d rather leave my shitty poems up so i can get advice on why thier shitty then have a poem up that i feel doesnt need any more work on it.. or i just dont want to put the work into.. i understand having a few up that you’re staisfied with.. to show people what you’ve done with them... but otherwise.. your just taking up space.. and when you have all those poems up (i’m not just talking 20.. i mean the people that have like 50+) and youre submitting new peices... you’re focused on the new peices.. not on the older ones.. i dont know.. just as long as you keep your comment ratio up and arent submitting 2 or 3 poems a day, i guess it’s not that bad... |
| User | mae | 2005-04-06 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | As a reader, I get a little perturbed when writers have deleted their older poems. I tend to go to one writer and read and comment on several of their pieces. When they’ve taken the older ones down, you can’t get an idea of how they’ve grown - or not - in their writing or how they express their real personality.
The only time I take a poem down is when I think it needs some serious work. If it’s good enough to post in the first place, then it’s good enough to leave up. If it isn’t good enough to leave up, then I shouldn’t have posted it to begin with.
I SAY LEAVE THEM ALL UP!!! mae |
| User | WolfStar | 2005-04-05 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | I haven’t really submitted too much to fill up the 20 you get for show, but I would probably leave them up if I think the poems would be meaningful to someone. See, i like poems that touch me very deeply. I hope to have someone else have that feeling too...
But isee what you’re saying. Hmmm.... I’d probably take a few down. Some of my less significant ones. |
| User | besodemuerte | 2005-04-05 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | i’ve deleted one or two works.. but.. i’ve only submitted like 18... i’ve been thinking about deleting a few that have a lot of comments... or deleting most of my works cause there isnt much left for anyone to say about them.. then reworking them and possibly reposting a few of them if everything works out okay... but when people leave up all thier work, the older stuff isnt as likely to be veiwed much.. i say leave up the work that you want to revise and maybe a couple favorite pieces... |
| User | Juliets_dagger | 2005-04-05 | | | Subject | untitled | | Message | At first I left them all up. But later decided that I should take some of them down. I took down the ones with less comments down and put them on my website. I guess that if everyone left all their works up then the we’d need more server space. But I dunno. Maybe that doesn’t matter. Oh well. Much love to ya Fizz. :-)
