I have a bad case of writter block. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or so forth, that I can use. Or anything else that can help me out.

Message  The problem with stream of consciousness is what if what’s on your mind is ?What should I write?" If you write that first... where do you go?

Message  Like others have said: just write. Write fast, stream of conscience. Just let the words pour out, whether they make sense or not. Eventually, during this process you will run across one line, idea, or maybe even just a word, that you’ll like. Delete everything you wrote but that one thing. Now you have what you’re going to write your poem around, or at least something you want it to contain.

Message  I got the best writing advice yesterday from my wife (she doesn’t write but she does read Neil Gaiman’s blog on a daily basis and he does write) she said "Just show up." It took me a while to figure out what she meant (I could have asked her but that would have been too easy) but then it hit me, just put pen to paper and see what comes out. Don’t worry about whether it’s crap or not, every writer is going to produce crap (although some of us prefer to use a toilet) but if you don’t at least try you’ll never write that one amazing piece that will shoot you to the top of the best seller list so fast that it’ll make your head spin. Needless to say because this is my little version of a rant I didn’t pay much attention to spelling and/or punctiation but to quote some famous line from a movie I can’t remember the title of "Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn." so there. Just show up and see what happens.

Message  You could close your eyes and meditate, and eventually you’ll start remembering things that are on your mind that you don’t really know are on your mind, or you can do it the quicker way by taking Dextromethorphan.

Message  And the post isn’t about not having ideas, it’s about not being able to put them on paper.

 Message  Hey Jason,

The real question is, *how* do you force yourself to write even when you don’t want to? For me it’s, `I could sit here and argue with this piece of paper, or... I could go to sleep,’ or whatever the alternative might be. Too often, I find it very difficult to convince myself to just start writing...

Message  Just one. Write anyway. Even if it’s just about how you can’t write. It’s all about disipline. I write a minimum of 20 lines of 10 syllables in verse and at least 500 words of randomness in prose every day, no matter how much I don’t want to.
