Topic  Can evil be a hero?
Message  I was thinking about trying a new style of writing where my main character is evil, even a monster - so to speak. You will learn to hate this character very quickly because of what he had done, so will you read the story to end if he is so evil?

I would like to get your opinion on the matter.

Message  If you can stomach it, Showtime’s DEXTER is fantastic.

Basic plot- serial killer who kills bad guys (And happens to work for the cops as a ...wait for it...blood spatter analyst.)

It’s a real live, Disney meets Dahmer concept-appealing and morbid. (Ever notice someone always dies or is already dead in Disney flicks...?)

Make sure your character is easily connectible with your readers- if you can connect, you can sell ANYTHING...

good luck.

Message  An evil main character would be cool. It would be interesting because you’d be seeing things from a different point of view.

Message  Evil is a conception in one’s mind. One person’s maliciousness might be anothers benovolence to others. Actions are the only things that can be evil and the person has the choice to do bad or good things. I would actually like to read a story where the bad guy doesn’t just beat up people or is tormented inside who hungers for blood and gore. But hey, tell me when you are done, I’d love to read what you have to share with us.

Message  Characters whose very root is in evil are interesting indeed. Elric of Melnibone was one of the first such characters, brought to us by Michael Moorcock.

Read some of the Elric books, get a small idea as to how an evil hero may act. Draw inspiration and make your own new dark avenger from what you learn.

I wish you luck.

Message  Yeah, I’d definately read it, if it’s done well it could be good fun, I always used to think how a Bond book might be like from the bad guys perspective. Good luck to ya and keep posting if you get it started.

best of the season

Message  simple answer. yes it can. it makes the story better if our protagonsit is a bad guy. it just always turns out the good guy is always the facve to write about.
if you do write this, let me know, so i can read. a refreshing difference.
