Message  I also agree with johnroth. Often I write a poem based on reading other people’s poems on here (e.g. "Upon reading ’The Wallflower’", "Butterflies", "And morning is a ring of fire")

 Subject  Force yourself
Message  I agree with Saidin. One day I just sat down and forced myself to write. And I came up with two decent poems ("A fox, red and lustrous", "Jubilee"). Of course, I made several edits and changes to "A fox, red and lustrous" and a minor change to "Jubilee", but that is the way writing goes.

Just force yourself. Randomness is the key to greatness.

Message  Take off your glasses (if you wear them), take out a pen and lined sheets of paper. Think of some random topic, and write WHATEVER comes to your mind. It tends to be surprisingly good! haha :)

Message  Well, I usually write my poetry when I am in the mood--write about how you feel.

Message  if u cant find any inspiration..give it some time. It will come to you when you least expect it. Always have a notebook near by , you never know when creativity is going to strike.

Message  I think some people like to force themselves to write. I’d suggest writing when the moment strikes and not when you strike the moment. It’ll feel more real.

Message  You don’t always have to write. Writer’s block comes when you have an urge to write but nothing to write about. If the urge bothers you enough, don’t so much think of a topic to write on, as create one of your own. For instance, take a portable MP3 player out into nowhere. . . woods, a field, a pasture, a roadside, a park. . . walk around and listen to music that puts you in an appropriate mood. Then notice things, which is one of the biggest parts of writing. Notice, analyze, think, and most of all ’let go’. Sooner or later you will find something around you that will inspire writing and, usually, it’s not a concrete form of writing. . . not about an event or person, rather they become fantasy stories or something else entirely. The best way to write is not think about writing at all, kind of like finding stuff when you’re not looking for it.

Message  Write what you feel. Are you happy? Sad? Angry? I know you must be frustrtaed. Write about that. Or write what you see around you. Write about the sky. Your family. Your friends. And it doesn’t matter how you write it. It can be long or short, rhyming or free verse. You can even write about how bored you are. But don’t ever force your writing to come out. It won’t work that way. You have to be motivated and willing to do it.

Message  why not consider, instead of writing about something, writing a particular form of something. It doesn’t have to be original. Look at a sonnet. They tend to be about Love. What’s your favorite story? Rewrite it in a form like one of the Welsh bardic meters... instead standing in empty space, constrict yourself.

Message  Writer’s block is a funny thing. It’s completley created by the writer and it doesn’t go away until the writer realizes that SHe put hirself there and can step out of it at anytime. Unfortunatley after realizing this, it still may take some time for the writer to get out of it.

Oh, you do it to yourself, you do.

Message  This is a common topic, my advice to all is to not worry about it too much or you’ll just reinforce the block. When you have something that you feel strong enough to write about you’ll write it.
Until then just take a notepad and pencil when you can and doodle about with it and you may be surprised what comes out of it.
People deal with it differently walking, fishing, taking a train ride...strange but true!
So experiment and find your thing, that’s my advice anyhoo, for what it’s worth.

Another thing that lots of people do on this site, is write about not being able to write. It may not be a work of art or the most original thing but you don’t need to submit it lord knows there’s enough, but it may get the creative juices flowing once more.

Good luck

Message  What do you want to write? I would infer from your username that it would be poetry. Why don’t you just start by reading other poems, and then write one about something that interests you.
