    dotsJournal: Thank You...dots
    -------------------------------------------
    Mood: Depressed

I want to thank everyone who has given me feedback lately. I've been insecure about my writing lately and wonder if I should even continue in it. Also, I'd like everyone to check out my music site if you're open minded: http://www.myspace.com/aside45

I've decided I am going to have to take it upon myself to leave comments. Two years ago or so this site was great for Critiquing and Encouraging poets both young and old. It was common to get up to four comments in just a few hours, but in the last year or so comments have really diminished on this site, so if anyone at all reads this, I urge you to comment on the poems of others, and as a result it will generate more attention for your own work. If you can't be mature and do it to better the other person, at least comment on the work of others to draw attention to your own work.

    Mood: Guess what!?

I haven't written a poem for about a year or so, I've been working on Lyrics and Music for my new demo. I am going to start writing poetry again. It is an art in which you can give more detailed descriptions of the subject matter. Lyrics are great, but they are limiting because you are tied to the music and also to what key your voice sounds best in. Some words just don't sound good being sang! lol!

    Mood: Thinking...

It seems that lately comments are either unrealistically complementary or unnesessarily negative for the sake of expressing jealousy for another's work. Don't get me wrong I love a positive comment and sometimes hate a negative comment, but both are necessary. There are times though that one can find no fault in a piece. There are people that give realistic comments, but the more immature ones on this site get mad and bash the reviewers poetry out of revenge. It's easy for me to say because I get many positive comments for which I am thankful for, but I have been the victim of what I call "revenge comments" lol!!

    Mood: Rant

I am the type who does not want to be selfish and always post and never comment, but I have found when you are honest with someone and give constructive criticism some want to retaliate and bash your poetry. Not because it is bad poetry, but simply because they are angered with your honesty. I'm not talking about you James! lol! I'm talking about a handful that do this.

    Mood: Yeay!!

This is my favorite quote but it is simply too long to post on my bio! lol! so here it is: "They want me to write differently. I could, but I must not to. God has given me this talent out of a thousand people, and it is to Him that I must give account. How would I stand before Almighty God if I followed the others and not Him?" (Anton Bruckner) I posted this quote because I feel we must all write in our own styles musically and poetically. This is my statement against following the crowd.

    Mood: Sarcastic

I have such a brilliant idea to reveal to everyone. There is something I have discovered like an archeologist unearthing a valuable artifact. It may be a bit of a stretch for some, but I have found a very useful tool. It is one of the greatest discoveries of man kind. Are you ready? It is called a Dictionary! lol! With the discovery of this little marvel it is hard to believe that many of us continue to spell words wrong in our poems. If you are unsure take the time to use a dictionary, so that we may see that you are not just throwing a piece of slop together! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

    Mood: Rant

I'm at a point in my life where I am tired of labels when it comes to music or any kind of art for that matter. There is always a "mine is better than your's" mentality. For example people say metal sucks, but punk rules or country sucks and funk rules. If you look at this in a true musicians point of view you would not see much difference in other styles, you'd only be concerned whether the music and/or lyrics touched the soul. Hey a C major Chord is a C major Chord in any style.

    Mood: Thinking...

The greatest challenge as a "poet" or a "writer" of any sort is to come up with a truly original idea. When I write I always make sure that I come up with an original title and idea, and in this day and age for me that can take time, so I am planning to write something else soon, because it has been so long since i've posted anything.

Just as I start to lose my faith in the goodness of humanity someone shows me that there are a few good people out there.

Be kind, take a few minutes to review the hard work of others <3
It means a lot to them, as it does to you.
