-------------------------------------------Mood: The UsualIt's too easy to just say things can't change or won't get any better.... call me crazy but I enjoy a day of honest hard work. It just sits better with me knowing I'm doing what I can to make an impact within my reach of this world. It's exciting to be challenged with the fact that I know I can do much better...

-------------------------------------------Mood: RelaxingLet's talk about salt today! Did you know sodium is necessary to help regulate our blood pressure and our hearts? Too much or too little sodium in the body can cause seizures, coma, even death! It takes just the right amount to keep our body functioning. Salt is also used for preserving, especiially back in the day when refrigeration wasn't available. People would salt their meats to preserve them in the hot weather. Salt has many other uses but is most commonly known as a seasoning for meals :) And still, too much or too little can make a big difference in a meal!
So why all the talk about salt?
Jesus said we are the salt of this Earth! (Matthew 5:13) Think about it. We are the flavor of this world, the regulating factor in the "Body of Christ", an agent of preservation. Wow, when the idea starts to sink in many things come to light... Like, if we, being the salt, try and season fellow christians what good does it do? Salt isn't meant to season salt it is meant for the unflavorful world.
Sometimes we use too much salt though. We become overbearing and leave a bad taste in people's mouths! Yikes! How do we solve this? Read Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus says we are the light of this world too... A light is meant to shine and guide in the dark. To bring perspective and drive out darkness. But too often we see the christians shining their light in peoples faces, blinding their sight! Don't try and outshine sin and evil. Instead let your actions and attitude shine. This is like shining a light at someone's feet, guiding them towards a better path and towards Jesus. Jesus never shoved himself or His words in people's faces or down their throats. He was just himself and if you accepted it, awesome! If not, ok that's yoru choice. Think about that one :)...Created 2010-06-05 18:38:54

-------------------------------------------Mood: Guess what!?Matthew 3:10 "The axe is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."
John the Baptist was preaching out to the pharisees and saducees almost in a threatening way saying "Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire" He was referring to Jesus and the fact that His works were already in motion to cut away our roots. But what does it really mean? Is he referring to punishment? Was Jesus getting ready to cut us away from those who “bear fruit” and cast us into the fire because we were unproductive? Let's dig a little deeper...
When I think about it, we are all rooted to something one way or another. We live in a fast paced society where we are expected to make quick judgments and even quicker decisions. We are heavily influenced by the media. what we watch and listen to gets imprinted into our subconscious and concious minds. We become attached to characters or icons, whether actor’s or musicians, writer’s or speakers, etc. The more involved we are with something the deeper we become rooted in them. Habits and paradigms form, lies and ignorance deceive our minds into believing we have to act and react a certain way. That we have to be the victim of circumstances. We get rooted in ground that is dried out by weeds (lies).
What was the meaning of John’s message? Jesus showed us the meaning by healing the sick, speaking the truth, denouncing religion, and offering his life for forgiveness. He wasn’t coming to us down, he came to cut away all the hurtfulness, lies and deceit that we have rooted ourselves in. He was removing the roots in our lives!
So how do we uproot the weeds choking the life out of us? How do we continue to grow?
We need to learn God’s promise for us. We need to root ourselves in his word. His word will break up the ground around you. His promise will show you what needs to be removed from your life. Build your faith to the point where you are no longer just believing in God, but KNOW his power and strength. That knowledge of Him will take you forward! it will become the fertile ground you grow in. you won’t need to try and draw life from music, or television, from friends or relationships. Your life will be drawn from the wells of salvation where peace, love, joy and grace will satisfy your every need. Don't just read the word, do the word! Take action and be mindful of what goes on in your head. What you speak and what you think holds the answer to many of the "Why me?" attitudes in this world. You have more control over your life than you are led to believe. Open up your bible and find out how to take it back!
