Mood: Sigh...

for those that actually care or pretend to care, i shall be posting, at most, 2 more works before leaving this site permanently. i apologize to those that are fans of what i write. i just find that there is a lack of creative genius here. granted, i appreciate that there are several people out there that frequent es, but i haven't read anything truly original in quite some time, and it's kinda letting me down. for those interested, i'll be putting up new works in various locations around the web. those who care will know where to look.
until i post, take care.

Mood: Relaxing

This is a song by a band called America. yes, i know. they're old... real old... but i got to see them live, and, man, can they ROCK!

Ain't it foggy outside
All the planes have been grounded
Ain't the fire inside?
Let's all go stand around it
Funny, I've been there
And you've been here
And we ain't had no time to drink that beer

'Cause I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

Ain't the years gone by fast
I suppose you have missed them
Oh, I almost forgot to ask
Did you hear of my enlistment?

Funny, I've been there
And you've been here
And we ain't had no time to drink that beer

'Cause I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

I understand you've been running from the man
That goes by the name of the Sandman
He flies the sky like an eagle in the eye
Of a hurricane that's abandoned

Mood: Thinking...

the more you regret at a younger age, the worse life will continue to get. eventually, you'll end up going day by day saying nothing but "man, i wish i did that back then..."

do what you want while you can and want to do what you can while you can still do what you want to do. believe me, when that makes sense, the world that is reality will seem like a hallway full of opportunities and you got the master key.

most of all, learn to let go. whether it's breaking up with someone you thought was mr/ms perfect or just tripping over your own feet, learn to let go. life will throw rocks at you, but with the right mentality, you won't feel a thing. who knows, you might even laugh a little.

i've learned to let go, and often times, people often mistake my attitude for a high. people think i don't care about anything because i'll look at a bad situation and be able to laugh at something completely unrelated at that time. it's not that i'm aggrivated by it, it's just that honestly, i'm just that way. i've learned to let go, and life couldn't be better.

Mood: Too much at once...

it's quite interesting when i take the time to think about it, but many people do not realize the importance of family until their own is under extreme hardships. throw in the separation of an ocean, a desert, and the Sierra Nevada and you increase the burden even more. though the wieght being placed on my shoulders may not be physical, it is emotionally, nay, mentally debilitating.
we take so much for granted in our lives. that is a common mistake. that is human nature. it has slowly, but surely, become a universal norm for our country. from the harsh winters of the seas surrounding the great frozen north to the summer storms slamming stupendously in the southeast, you'd think that we, as a people, would have learned from out mistakes and consequences. Have we?
no.
no, we have not.
or have we?
maybe we have learned from our mistakes, but extunating circumstances prevent certain individuals from taking the appropriate action.
ex: old, retired citizens in florida.
the moved to florida by choice. it is a wonderful location to retire. however, the advent of annual tropical storms is overlooked until a matter of days before landfall. in their elderly state, there is little they can do but pray and hope.
ex: ex-military
living in reno has made me realize the one true downside to being a lifer in the military. once you get out, the likelihood of finding a career similar your last is fairly slim, at best, without proper steps prior to separation. living overseas hinders that exponentially dependent upon years of service and career field. since arriving in reno, i've counted 147 different homeless citizens who once were willing to give their lives for a country that now insists on denying our uniformed guardians of freedom the retirement security that are taken for granted by many and dreamed of by more.
ex: college students
graduating high school may be one of the more liberating feelings that one can achieve in life, but that is all it is: a feeling. like many feelings, it will die out. this murder is normally followed by a raping of one's senses by the concept we all know as reality. try as they may, schools can never prepare students for such violation. the burden, instead, rests squarely on the shoulders of the victims. college is, without doubt, one of the more complicated stages in life. may haps this is why many choose to skip it and replace it with work. yet, there are those that wish to combine the two, in hopes of somehow achieving something more. this will, in turn, lead to miserable failure if done improperly. jobs in many of the college towns are taken by those that achieved said failure, a sign that those wishing to follow in their predecessor's footsteps should second guess themselves.
change is inevitable. we, as a species, fear change. thus, we fear the inevitable. so is the way of humanity.
someone once challenged me to define what makes humanity unique from animality. simply put, our difference comes from our ability to reason. if humans lacked the ability to reason, we would not fear change, rather, we would fear only one thing: death. it may come in many forms, but it is bound to happen. humans, on the other hand, has developed many other reasons to be afraid. travel by land, air, and sea; other species; other humans; even concepts such as commitment are feared because of reason.
learn to let go. if you can learn to let go, only then shall you truly be happy.

Mood: Straightening things out...

I think there might actually be something wrong with me, but then again, it might just be the same thing carrying over from God knows when. maybe normality by society's standards is really what's wrong with me. maybe the screwed up side of me that i keep locked inside of me so deep is really what is normal for me, and normality is when change occurs in my life.
what is life? what is so great about it? what forces us to continue through the struggles and endeavors that plague our lives?
does society take natural selection into consideration? what if emotional pain is that sign that your next? what if all this time i've been messing with society's natural order this whole time and thus am screwing it up for everyone else?

There is no snow today.

There is no rain today.

The only thing on my mind today is sunshine,

And I'm having a hard time faking this smile.

When I found out, I broke down bad.

Confused.

Is it selfish of me to grieve?

Crying for someone I don't know.

Confused.

I want to go home now.

I've been out here for too long.

I want to see my son,

And teach him that it's human to fell sorrow.

Even when it's not your sorrow.
