Webmaster and a few of my trusted friends. If it gets popular I will let the winner be decided by majority with a statistical weighting depending on the member's stats. Initially, it would be too easy to cheat if we get only a few entries.
Everyone who writes poetry wants acknowledgement for their skill. Winners of the contests will be ranked by the likelyhood of winning the contest. For example, someone who wins a contest with 100 entriest total will receive more acknowledgement than someone who wins a contest with only 20 entries. Winners of the contests will be featured in private messages to all users.
Say I want a contest of 30 people. Only 15 enter which half of what I wanted. I'll only pay half of the full prize. This, along with the acknowledgement system above, is to encourage people to invite their friends and post poetry rather than secretly keeping the contest to themselves to have a better chance.
Actual is the percent of contests they've won, that they've entered it. Chance is the actual percent they could have won if selected randomly. In lamens terms, if the Actual is the same as chance, the person is about equal skill with the majority of posts. The higher actual is above chance, the more skilled the writer. This is not an accurate measurement at all for a low number of posts, but does take into account the number of submissions in the contest, rather than the ratio of wins to losses.
These are made for people that want to contribute something. Instead of donating to the site and letting the site take credit for their generosity, they can post their own contest and send money or give a service to the winner.
They can arrange that with the winner through private message on eliteskills or some instant messenger. paypal and money orders are usually best.
Tough luck. We'll have a rating per contributer. If the winner doesnt get the money they can report the user as being non paying. People should be weary of new users who post because they have nothing to lose. Older Elite members are more likely to follow through. If there's no winner called the post will be set to pending.
Shiny Objects will be the currency of user sponsored contest. Users can only at max set 1000 shiny objects to a contest. They will get turned into contest coins when a person wins and later will be used for more high paying contests.
