Blood virus: The dawn sun. (Zombie apocalypse RP needs people!NEW..)

Settings & Atmosphere

(if you join you will most probably be added, just check the RP details!RED, check RP details please!) The cities lie in ruin and the dead walk the streets.Fires burn everywhere, None of us were expecting it, though now looking back it seems obvious it would happen. Its called the blood virus or the dawn virus, because thats when it escaped, If the blood or saliva of the infected gets into your eyes or mouth, your dead.
The Virus struck on the 8th of july, We were watching the updates of mass violence and death on our screens, watching the news fascinated yet somehow detached becuase it didnt effect us.
We were living in a bubble, we believed what we saw on the news would never reach us, it did. The creatures had spread throughout england and america in a matter of days, the infected were on your street clawing at your door.
The infected were your family and freinds, the next door neighbour thats always lived there, your brother or sister.
By the third week the virus had spread throughout europe, no where was safe, the few cities and towns left soon fell, leaving small bases of survivors dotted around, the numbers still falling.
Everyday the distress signals we pick up on the radio get fewer and fewer. The TV's have finally given out, theres nothing but static left, everything is gone.
The world has fallen to the dead and we can do nothing but survive and hope that one day we will be able to fight back.
But for now all we can do is wait and watch as the screams fill the air, hoping, always hoping that one day the dead will be gone.
I know that day will not be soon.

Not long ago a group of survivors made a camp, so much happened there, outside of the city, but its gone now, everyone was scattered or were killed. They try to rebuild occasionally,, away from where the blood stains the ground and the rotting bodies lay like a carpet over the already ankle deep mud. They never manage it.
Freinds where seperated by death or bad luck, brothers and sisters lost eachother, children lost there parents. The doctor couldn't cope with the amount of people being rushed in, dead or dyeing, most infected.
The plague killed almost everyone and many of the subjects who resided there dissapeared, maybe buried among the bodies, maybe out there somewhere.
And as the dawn sun rises I look from my perch on the cliff edge, and ask myself, when will it end, when will i find you?

Whe she was 10 her containment platform exploded and her body was so badly injured that she was at risk for being destroyed and thrown out. However, a particular scientist took pity on her and rehabilitated her by infusing several of her vital organs and body parts with bio-mechanical structures. She has become the poster child for the government's testing program. Her sight was compromised by the injuries she sustained during the accident and it is the one thing that she was unable to have fixed. Glados is extremely powerful and is being used as a sheperd to round-up the other test subjects, though she is wondering if this is the right thing to do.

After the daze, the first thought that entered Robbie's mind was 'I'm really cold.' She checked her shoulders with a heavy eyes, noticing that her jacket was somewhat burned, and so the wind was getting through to her skin. She shivered slightly, the warmth inside her dying down. Then she heard a cry.
Panicking, hoping she hadn't hurt anyone- too badly, if at all- she leaned against the ledge she had unintentionally created directly in the middle of the crater and searched for the source of the cry. She scanned the area until she found a body lying on the ground, the face turned up at her. As her vision began to clear up and she could focus more easily on the subject, she realized that it wasn't just anyone- it was Richard. 'Did I hurt him?' But he was, upon closer inspection, smiling at her, almost grinning. Her heart pounded with excitement and relief and she shimmied down the ledge. It took a while, due to the fact that she wasn't very athletic, but eventually she hit the floor and was running toward him.
"Are you alright?" She shouted, pumping her short arms and legs to the best of her ability. Thanks to the usage of her energy and the energy it took to run AT ALL, her breath became short quickly. But she continued to run until she was right by him. Then she collapsed next to him. After a moment of awkward silence, she began laughing hysterically, tears trickling down her face. She was scared, happy, and tired all at the same time, and was definitely ready to go back to their little “home” and rest. When her laughing had stopped, she faced him again with sheepishly, feeling slightly embarrassed by her spectacle.
“I... er, I'm sorry...” She grimaced at the crater, using this as an excuse not to look at him. He seemed calm enough, unharmed, but... He didn't seem like the type to show whether or not he was actually hurt. There was dry blood on him, but she knew it wasn't his, but that monster's. “About leaving you, I mean,” she said, continuing to gaze anywhere but him. “That was.. rude...”

She yawned, blinking a few times and wiping some of the melting ice off her wings as she stood up. "I've heard that somewhere before." she scratched the back of her head, trying to force the wall of tiredness away so that she could think clearly. After a few seconds the dull moan came again, she heard it this time and looked up at the rows of trees that blocked any creature from view. Then she blinked again, her eyes seemed to blur out of focus as if she were in some kind of trance, really she was just trying to see through each tree individualy. But she was quick, and it didn't take long before the creature was less than three rows behind. Creatures. There were five slow ones, dragging themselves along on rotting muscle and broken bone. Dispite their disgusting appearance, the rotting was only about eight weeks worth, underground that would have made their faces unrecognisable and walking impossible, but up here they weren't exposed to as much bacteria and the virus somehow slowed down decomposition, although they looked especially brain dead, but that is the first thing to go. Through the bark her x-ray style vision couldn't make out much more detail, other than the colour of their torn clothes and the bite marks that patterned their disgusting flesh. "Five slow ones." she said, glad that they were so slow and so hadn't reached them yet, it was almost funny that you could just jog a few paces ahead of one and taunt it for a while before shooting it...if you were that twisted in the head, she prefered chopping them up; but that's what you get if you take something away from Rachel. "I can't see any more animals, but we should watch out for birds. Birds and mammals are most likely to be able to catch this kind of thing. Then again they have no saliva to pass it on to us, but I don't really wanna be pecked to death." she shrugged, realising her mind was wondering again. It was odd really, in some ways she was grown up, like survival skills, but inside she was still so childish. "Can you fly?" she poked one of his wings curiously, as the first of the five creatures stumbled out from behind the row of trees, with open ground it could continue it's slippery course towards them much faster. She was wondering if this guy had a fight or flight policy, and if he did fight, whether she'd be able to take one out; she'd already killed plenty, one more couldn't hurt.

"Shhhh....stay back, I didn't get the brain, rule number two, double tap." Had it been three or two, or even one?....He sighed it was sad when he remembered the movies of old, Zombie land (how he hated that word) Had been a favourite of his...
He kept his sword which was now stained with dead blood well in front of him, the creature moved, trying to drag itself fward, he swung the sord down shattering its skull and ending its non-life.
But he knew already thatnow they had caused so much noise and they needed to get away from hee.
"Can't rest just yet I'm afraid, come on rachel, lets get you somewhere even just a bit warmer, dont want you freezing to death...."
Somewhere safer to, he didnt say that didnt worry rachel, oh god rachel, could it even be possible?
Not that she didnt know the dril, she was probably thinking the exact same thing.
He held his hand out to the girl.
"allons-y." Ok so yes it was a phrase he had stolen from one of his favourite TV charecters, and it was cheesy, but he didn't care. Him and rachel needed to talk and his head was all messed up and... Another growl, but this time it turned into tthe hungry moan of one of the infected.
"Quickly!"

A dizzying pain awoke him and Richard gasped, straining for breath that would not come. He opened his eyes and closed them again quickly. It was near noon now, and the bright light streamed in from the half-thatched window, searing his sight. He squeezed them and grunted as he tried again and managed to keep them open. The first thing he noticed was the floor he was lying on. This confused him as he desperately tried to remember where he was and how he’d gotten there. A reeking, foul stench of rotten sour flesh slapped his senses and he gazed down on the headless corpse he realized he was laying on. As the sights swirled around him, they took on new meaning until Richard finally regained his memories. “Shit,” he wheezed, sitting up quickly enough to feel the cracked ribs in his side, “Robbie….”
He searched for her as fast as his body would allow, limping up the stairs, clutching his side with one hand, his throbbing head in the other. He could feel the thick, dried crust of blood that painted his scalp and he wrinkled his nose in disgust. That fall had been far more detrimental then he had thought. She was not in the room they had stayed in, nor was she hidden among the dusty shelves of the store room they had entered first. Wrapping his mangled body in the remaining pieces of his torn coat as best he could, he limped out into the bright sunlight, using the Louieville as a walking stick.
He found her on the edge of town, his eyes meeting the flicker of blue flames first. They frightened him for a moment as he recalled what she had said about her power. He examined them- they were low enough to jump over, though they burned with the power of an unseen fuel. Taking a few steps back, he gauged the distance and leapt- only to cry out “fuck me!” as he fell into the crater that they had kept hidden from his sight. He tumbled down the dusty side, sliding to a stop on the bottom of the 15 foot deep hill. As he careened to a halt, despite the throbbing of his extremities, he knew at once the reason for the pain in Robbie’s eyes. So this is what she had meant to keep hidden. As if to emphasize the thought, he glanced up at the tiny figure perched on the top of the crater opposite him. Small and feminine, it took him a moment to recognize the shivering shape, her dark, matted hair and thin body all too familiar to him now. Remaining on the ground, he took a deep breath and shouted her name, giving her a comical grin and smile as she turned.

And so she screamed. Her mouth released an endless shriek- or so it seemed endless. SHE, after so long laying dormant, tried to calm Robbie down, but to no avail. Robbie continued to scream until her throat became hoarse and raw with doing so.
'Don't you FEEL that? Idiot!' SHE was yelling something about feeling... And Robbie could FEEL. She could FEEL the aura of this other one, this half-infected demon from hell. She could hear it calling out to her, begging for help. 'For mercy', she thought instantly, stepping back. She didn't know what to do. She'd killed two monsters in the last twenty-four hours. And, because of her lack of control and of HER lack of efforts as well, she might kill another. But not with her knife.
The heat was growing rapidly inside of her, making her see red. The monster was becoming a blood-red blur, as well as the rest of her surroundings. It intensified with each minute she panicked, and this made her panic that much more. She was afraid for Richard and for any other human that could be around. And she was actually afraid for this creature, for this half-thing pacing toward her with slow, desperate steps. She wanted- as irrational as this sounded- to help the poor creature... but didn't know how. She didn't have the cure for this poor once-woman
Except death.
She could strike her now, and end both of their worries, and at least the other's pain. But before she could bring up her knife, something crashed down onto the monster, crushing it under its body. At first, she thought it to be a larger zombie creature, and it was going to fight the other for food- as in, for Robbie. But upon further, quick observation, she saw it wasn't a monster at all, but blessed Richard. He was wrestling with the son of a bitch until a SNAP finally ended the quarrel. The half-girl fell limp onto the store's floor, staining it with her blood. It was much more crimson and less rank than the other two zombies'. 'She had been alive... somehow.' So she was a new zombie. 'Which means that there are a lot close by,' she thought to herself. Her body was quivering with the FEELING now, its red hot core burning a hole through her stomach- and maybe that was a literal term at the moment. She could feel its fire against her torso, which meant it was growing at an impossible rate- by this point, it was invincible, unable to be stopped.
She looked down at Richard in alarm, noticing that he, too, was very still. She crawled next to him and touched him, shoving him slightly. No response. Her heart sank and then began to race in her chest. The fire was reaching its limit and was about to burst through her. 'I want to help him,' she thought desperately, standing. She knew the only way she could help him was by leaving, if only for a moment. 'I have to get out of here...'
She shoved him one last time, in case he had awoken. When he hadn't, she took out her knife and cut off the zombie's head. At least this one wouldn't get to him. She dropped her knife and ran out of the store, ran down neighborhood after neighborhood, not daring to stop. When she knew she couldn't control it any longer, and when she felt she was far enough away from Richard... she went supernova.
It was a flash of red light that was instantly engulfed by white. An invisible orb of protection formed around her as she stared through red eyes at what she was doing. This had happened only twice before, but both times.... 'I've killed people,' she thought, remembering. 'And I'm killing people now, I can FEEL it. I can FEEL people close, and I can FEEL their aura disappearing, one by one. I'm killing again... Monster.' She was no better than those ugly, flesh-eating creatures. She started to cry tears that hissed as they slid down her cheeks, burning them.
A figure walked through the white fire and toward her orb. It was HER, of course. This was HER fire, after all. She pressed a hand to Robbie's orb and said in a soft, uncharacteristic voice, "I'm sorry." Robbie repeated the motion and simply smiled through her tears. "If I saved at least ONE life, that's all that matters to me." She was referring to Richard, of course. "I know, I know." The fire began to dwindle around them, disappearing. Within a seven block radius a large, dusty crater bordered by ring of blue fire.

She jumped back as the disgusting creature pounced, falling into the cold snow with a squeaky yelp. The creature fell to the ground and sticky red blood spilled out around it. She lay staring at the red stain for a while before she had completely understood what had happened, it had been infected. "That's impossible..." she muttered, slowly and carefully lifting herself out of the freezing snow which now soaked all of her clothes, hair and wings. The wolf had clearly been dead for weeks. A coughing fit engulfed her before she could comment further on the wolf's condition, her chest burned from the pain of the cold and she was forced to sit back down in the freezy snow. "Great..." she muttered, "Now I have a cold too." years ago she would have said swine flu as a joke, but now people knew what viruses could really do, nobody said things like that anymore. She had noticed the shocked look on his face when she said her name, but the creature had stopped her from replying, and a sudden flutter of tiredness meant she really didn't care anymore.

"Rachel!?" His eyes widened with shock, but there was no time now for a happy reunion.
The snapping and growling could be the undead, both where commen in this harshe land along with anything else that could survive the winters. He slipped his sword out of its sheath, waiting for whatever it was to come out of the trees...If it made noise, if it was the undead and it let out one of those god awful moans, all they could do was run because if one was there soon more would follow.
"If I say run, run..." The voice wasn't quite a whisper but it was full of tension and fear, it was almost a growl.. He remembered now just how stupid they had been standing in the clearing! He should have thought, after he had seen the small hoard earlier it had to have meant they where thawing out, it was still freezing but he must be loosing track of time because it WAS warming.
He stood in front of rachel sword out in front of him waiting for it to leave the trees.
And it did, fast, jaws half decayed showing a rowe of yello and razor sharp teeth, flesh hanging from in between each rotten fang, flesh of the already dead.
David swung his sword just in time catching the creatur in the stomach spilling black and crimson guts onto the white snow.
A wolf, an infected wolf?! That was impossible, the virus had never infected anything but humans, it waas the one thing they could rely on, the animals being safe, or at least only to carry the disease in there bite, but actually turn....the virus was mutating....

"I'm not." she said, wiping her face and shivering, trying to decide if she should push herself away and walk to the trees to find the source of the birds fear. "And I don't know your name, you just have the same name as someone I know...used to know." she looked at the white puffy snow that was melting against her red legs, thankfully it wasn't blood that made them red, just the cold. "My dog." she lied, finally getting the strength to push herself away and turn back to face him, making sure there were no tears on her cold cheeks. "I'm Rachel." she said, holding out a shivering hand and kicking some snow as she did so. "And now I know you so we don't have to stand here freezing to death while we debate whether or not I know you." she tried to adopt a bossy tone, but ended up sounding like a spoiled six year old, and her stern impression was even more of a failure. Finally the sound of a snapping twig, followed by a groaning sound came from the trees.

David tilted his head slightly, catching something that sounded like his name, how odd.
"How did you know my name? You sure we havn't met?" It was only now he realised the black haired angel girl was crying.
He didn't know why but that made him feel terrible.
"Hey, Don't cry." He was terrible at comferting people, always had been...He pulled the girl into his arms and gave her a hug,in a brotherly sort of way, it was automatic. In a way he already knew who the girl was, but even now faced with all the evidence he couldn't quite believe it was rachel, his little sister.
How could he? He had seen her die, all that blood....all those bites, and he shot her, remembered the feeling of terror and horror, he remembered firing the gun, but now he realised he had never gone back to check he had truly finished the job. Didn't dare because he knew if he ever went back to that place he would just give up.
He felt sick, how had he done such a thing, to his own sister. And oh god how much he wished she was alive, the hope bubbling up inside him right now woould be short lived, he knew he would be dissapointed, yet he wouldn't dare leave the crying angel on her own in the snow and blizzards.
He looked around checking the surroundings for the dead, it was not wise to be caught of gaurd, he was amazed such a fragile looking girl had survived for so long on her own, but she did have wings, he supposed.

She shook her head, feeling herself shiver with the movement as cold spread up her thin legs and caused her whole body to breifly shiver, despite the warm wings. "I don't know anyone." she said, looking down at the snow that hid her lower half and caused her manic shivering to continue. "The infection took everything." It's not like she knew anyone before the infection hit either, her brother was her only friend, and when they attacked and nearly killed her they took him too, she could see how much blood had covered the house when she finally had the chance to go back and look, there was no way he got out alive. And since then she had been a loner, and it was how she liked it. A sigh escaped her lips, something about this tall messy haired guy was familiar, and it made her want to stand and talk forever in the freezing conditions, just to hear another friendly voice. She shook her head again, looking at her own messy black hair as she did so, it was just like her brother's had been, but much longer. "I used to have a dog." she said smiling again, the only conversation she could think of was that, and she had to say something less melodramatic and depressing, even though the dog had been torn to peices, a tear slipped down her cheek. Thankfully she was able to spin around as she heard a group of startled birds explode from some trees behind them, hiding her tear. The birds circled wide in the air and she searched around her trying to see what had startled them. She stepped back, now oblivious to the cold or warm she wondered if there was something in the snow after all. "David..." she muttered to herself, childish fear caused her to cry a little more and now that she was in the company of another human, she saw how little she had acctually grown up.

GLADOS lead the two girl out of the house, slowly and cautiously, lips pressed together in a thin line as she concentrated on both walking, and the sounds of the infected masses that was making their way towards their hovel. They were coming from the east. “Damn it,” GLADOS clicked between her teeth. She turned to the girl, long arms pulling them close to shield them against the wind. Bending her head down to their level she said in a voice that was just above the howling tone of a sharp breeze that cut through them, “they’re coming from that direction. We have must return to the city limits. Can you follow?” If need be she would carry them. It was cold, and her chip revealed that during the nightly blizzard, the temperature had sunk down below ten degrees- and it was continuing to drop. Inside her chest her half-mechanical heart thundered out of anxiety she would never allow to be seen in her face. The city could be more dangerous, but they had to chance it. Out ahead, in the distance there was nothing. Literally. And if they wanted to survive they’d have to dive head-long into the fire.

A scream was what jolted Richard from sleep, causing his body to jump up-right, rocking the chair backwards and onto the floor. Cursing incoherently and grasping his now scraped right wrist, he gingerly removed himself from the fallen furniture and picked up his parka that he had used as a blanket through the restless night. His eyes scanned the room, aided by small filaments of light that filtered through the dirt and board covered windows of the room. Dawn had come at last. Thinking the scream had been a dream he stretched, yawned, and proceeded to look over at the bed where he had thought to see Robbie curled up beneath the covers- and then stiffened when her figure was nowhere to be found. He growled, his body immediately going into “fight mode” and his eyes surveying the room for any signs of a forced entry or fight. He found nothing, but let out a guttural sigh as he noticed the door cracked open. So she’d done the stupid thing he’d told her not to do. He let his body relax, throwing his coat onto the bed, until another high-pitched shriek sent him spiraling back to a ready stance. “Robbie…”
He moved out into the hall, throwing open the door. The dimly lit space did little to aid his sight and for a moment he allowed himself to adjust to the lack of light, irritation coursing through him as the sound of footsteps, heavy breathing, and the moans and stench of death assaulted his senses. When his eyes became clear to the contents of the shadows he found her, cowering in a corner, hidden just out of reach between the stooped, and hobbled mass of a mobile corpse. It reached for her, and Richard reached for the baseball bat he had tied to his belt loop for easy access. His hands went numb for a moment as he quickly realized that they were grasping naught but thin air and his head snapped downward to find that the bat was nowhere to be found. It must have dislodged when he had fallen.
A rash of whimpers smacked him back out of his thoughts and he saw from underneath the creatures out stretched and lacerated arm, Robbie’s face. Her eyes were twisted in fear and ravaged emotions that could have been frustration and anger. She had bit down on her lip in an attempt to stifle a scream. Her body was pressed up into the wall, her knees locked. Ripples of fear shivered their way across her nerves and she shook ever so slightly, quaking from both fear and that underlying power he could see radiating from her. “Move,” he mouthed, though her eyes were not on him, attention completely plastered to the horror before her. “Move,” he tried to whisper, his own eyes raking over the bloody knife that hung loosely at her side. “MOVE ROBBIE!” he finally choked out his voice barreling down on the two in the corner, and yet it did little to gain either one of their attentions. In fact it made the monster leap at the sound, a disgusting ripping sound, crawling from its throat as its hands wrapped themselves into the girl’s shirt.
His body reacted first, instinct smothering common sense. He did the kind of thing he had always been trained to do and lunged. 6 and a half feet of rolling muscle rocketed themselves from where the doorway where he stood and collided with the infected, broad side. The momentum and weight of Richard’s body sent them both flying, carrying them into the thin metal railing which cracked and splintered under the weight, breaking and pulling them over the side. Somewhere in the midst of free falling four flights down below, Richard had managed to gain the upper hand, and pushed the creature underneath him. They slammed into the tiled floor below, putting a large crack in the grain of the stone, and an even larger crack in the spinal column of the infected monster.
For a moment there was no movement from either one of them. The sickening drip-drip of blood echoed in the musty foyer as it seeped from a good sized gash in Richard’s scalp. The creature started to moan after a while, obviously angry, but it soon realized it could not move- paralyzed by both its injury and the pressure of Richard’s body pinning it to the floor. Richard remained silent; shallow, pained breathing echoing from between his lips as he drifted in and out of consciousness for the first time in a long time. “Robbie…” the word was as faded as reality and he doubted she could have heard it at all. He tried to move but dizziness took him into all-consuming darkness.

Tiffany and Shanna held each other close, until a sudden jolt of surprise hit them. The infected were coming toward them? And not just one or two, but many. This weather should stop them in their trackes. Tiffany rose, helping Shanna to her feet. The two would help each other out to move. They had to keep up with Glados. The noise outside grew louder. The creeking of the building increased. A plan would take to long to make, but couldn't be rash at a time like this. Tiffany held Shanna's hand to reasure her that nothing would go wrong. But that wasn't a promise easily kept. The two girls looked at Glados and nodded. It was time to leave. Tiffany grabed a small bag and carried it over her shoulder with one hand, and held Shanna's hand with her other.

The noise of the infected was like nails on a chalkboard. It was a terrifying noise. Tiffany and Shanna prepared themsleves and followed Glados.

David froze as the voice rung out behind him. He flexed his wings .
His english accent was obvious even from a distance, hers less so,maybe she had been in america to long...
"Hello!"
He spun round to face the girl, who wasn't much more then a dark figure at the moment, no wait that wasn't true, she seemed to be dressed in white, but then she seemed more like a smudges, with black hair, something about her shape was familiar, similar to how he looked with his wings wrapped round him...she had wings? Someone like him?
"Nice to meet someone living!" He grinned even though he knew she couldn't see it from that distance, through the snow. He ran a hand through his hair, it was something he always did when he was nervous or exited, it was just one of those things, a habit he couldn't break...
He took a few steps towards her, she seemed healthy, not hunched over or bent and he couls see no red on white from this distance, but if he couldn't see it, he was almost certain it wasn't there, he had seen blood on the snow, grown used to seeing crimson stains on white backgrounds, she might not be bitten, probably wouldn't, if you survived this long it was rarely you found someone alive who was still stupid enough to fall prey to the infected.
"Do I know you?" It was a sudden and slightly unexpected thought that he recognised that voice and he began to approach her through the snow...

The cold was finally starting to get on her nerves. A pair of large white wings grew from her back slowly, until eventually they were big enough to wrap around the small frame, like some kind of big feather blanket. Much warmer now, but walking much slower she was able to take in the sights more effectively. The damage and ghostlyness of the villages really hit her, but before she had time to mutter some cliche comment she noticed something walking ahead of her. It was large and black, slightly blurred by the thin fog that was rolling in. She froze as solid still as the ice and watched it, but after a few seconds she noticed something about the way it walked; it was feeling the cold, all huddled up like that. She called out, her voice unfamiliar even to her as it had been so long since she'd spoken to anything alive. "Hey, mister, or miss." the childish ring made her feel like a school child again. Back in the days when she felt she would never grow up, when the only thing that mattered... she shook her head, memories were painful and now that they were back she only wanted them gone again.

David Had his arms wrapped tightly round his middle, slightly tattered black trenchcoat pulled tightly round him in the cold, he looked back the way he came, it seemed once again he had lost everyone. The swarm that had attacked the house took them by surprise, it was the biggest group he had EVER seen in the winter months.
The group had scattered, he had tried to save anna, to get her to safty, but once again he had failed, just like he had failed rachel, just like he would always fail...
His teeth where chattering, his breath forming frozen clouds in the air, feet crunching the fresh snow, compacting it into ice.
He looked up in the direction he was heading, towards the countryside, the forests, it was safer there, colder but safer, less of the dead roamed that area.
His ruffled black hair was a stark contrast to his deathly pale skin, as where his raven black wings, which were currently tucked in close to his body trying to conserve some heat.
Dammit, winters had always been hard, but they seemed to be getting worse, much worse, they where longer and harsher, more snow more blizzards less zombies more survivors freezing to death. The winter was as dangerous as the infected themselves, maybe more so.
If he had been paying attention, looking where he was going, he might have noticed the girl not 10 metres behind him.

The snow was knee deep around her legs, whose only protection was a thin ripped pair of jeans that were now several years old and looked much older. The girl had her arms wrapped tight around her waist, as if that would somehow keep her warmer. A baggy torn shirt and wollen jumper were the only things covering her shivering stomach. Her head turned slowly from side to side, looking at and through the buildings around her, trying to spot something useful, but all she saw were frozen rotting corpses. Hoping one of them wouldn't burst from the snow she continued onwards, bare neck stretched as if it would help find something important. Her long black hair was tied up, but small strands fell across the pale heart shaped face and neat features. The hike continued for hours, through village and woodland, but still she found nothing living, and nothing that could help her; child like hope continued to fade away into the cold darkness as night drew closer.

A rumbling. It was coming from somewhere closs. Robin's mind was sweeping away from the darkness of sleep, slowly surfacing to the grey dawn outside. Her eyes were a little fuzzy and unfocused, making it hard to find her target- if there was one. But when her mind was finally able to process sound a new word came to mind when she heard the noise again. Snoring. She almost bursted into hysterical laughter. She was so spazzy she couldn't comprehend between different sounds. But it was also early in the morning, and she probably didn't get that much sleep. Her eyes adjusted to her surroundings, something amiss... She was laying on her back. (Straight) on her back. How was that possible when she was supposed to be sleeping on a- very lumpy- chair?
She turned her head. She was on the bed. Richard must have moved her when she'd fallen asleep. 'Very slick,' she thought, narrowing her eyes toward the chair. When she noticed the way he was sleeping- head on fist, mouth twitching slightly when inhaling- she almost laughed again. HE was the source of the awful snoring that had awoken her. And to think, he'd gone out of his way to make her comfortable. With a sigh, she rolled off of the bed- she was trapped by her blanket- slamming onto the floor. She quickly glanced at him, hoping she hadn't woke him up. When the coast was clear, she hopped from the bed to the door. She allowed herself to FEEL against it, letting her sense of touch take control. It was dimply quiet, no vibrations. 'It's over... for now...' She reached for the knob, careful to turn it slowly, and shut the door behind her. She then waddled to the bathroom where just yesterday she was washing monster-gunk off of her hand. She used it quickly, wanting to get upstairs. After shutting the door behind her, silently, she headed for the stairs.. when a noised stopped her. It was a half-moan- there were words. 'Why hadn't I sensed that?' she asked herself, reaching for her knife. She strangled its handle in its hand, backing up toward the stairs. But the closer she was to the stairs, the closer that half-moan. And the clearer the words became. "Help me..." they were saying. 'I don't want to call attention to myself just yet. I need... to get Richard first.' She turned around quickly... and became face-to-face with a half-monster, its flesh only somewhat decayed.
Panicking, forgetting about her weapon, Robin screamed.

Richard watched her fall asleep, listened to the shallow breathing from the rise and fall of her chest. As he moved from the bed with the silence and stealth of a large cat he contemplated on what she said. A voice? In her head? He gathered her in his two arms, tightly packed with sinewy muscles which rolled beneath the long-sleeved shirt he wore, and brought her to the queen sized mattress she had fought so desperately for him to have. The thought brought a lingering smile to his lips as he laid her beneath the blankets and padded her into a warm cocoon. He stood, stretched and then sat in the chair, restless and anxious for the morning to come.
He watched her sleep, silent and motionless- save for a few dreaming twitches that had her face rolled up into a frown. He rested his chin on his fist. She had been born with those powers? Now there was something new. As far as he was aware none of the other subjects had been born with powers; they were simply the result of mutation and experimentation. Processes he couldn’t imagine or fathom, that had their genes stretching to accommodate new codes. Unbeknownst to him, Richard’s face had cut into a deep scowl as the old hunger for revenge against the ones that had hurt them surfaced. As did the memories of GLADOS-his GLADOS if he had anything to say about it.
Time ticked by, and the hands of an invisible clock carried the moon across the sky. For hours Richard stayed awake watching Robbie sleep, determined to protect her from the outside dangers and possibly herself. He didn’t know what to make of the voice she had claimed to know so well, calling it “she.” He just knew that if it ever appeared she might lose control, he’d be the one to grab her hand and stop it. Unsure of what to make of his need to ensure her safety, Richard shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He needed sleep and knew it, and before long, as the last strands of night faded into another grey dawn, the deep denim-blue of his eyes were lost between closed lids and he fell asleep, still sitting upright.

They sounded like pretty awesome people. Emphasis on AWESOME. Robbie grimaces, contemplating what it would be like to have found out that her powers weren't HERS, but altered into her system. Of course, after a while, like all things, big or small, she wouldn't notice, but... 'That ought to have been traumitizing,' she thought. 'You ain't seen nothin' yet, kid,' SHE said. SHE'd gotten more hostile and mean since Richard arrived. Richard had been nothing but nice and hospitable. 'Probably jealous,' she thought toward HER, hoping it'd make HER mad enough to leave.
"They're... well... it's complicated." She looked up at the ceiling, trying to think up the words. "I was born with them, if that's what you mean. I know I was, because when I discovered them later, my grandmama told me she'd sensed it in me- she's a shamen or something like that. Anyway.. they've been a part of me since I can remember... But they're not really mine. See, I have someone... living in my head." She looked at him for some type of reaction. When there wasn't one, she continued. "SHE doesn't have a name. I never gave HER one. SHE's just here, you know? SHE's been there since my.. powers? Awakened. Before you came along, SHE was this guiding voice that calmed me down when I panicked, because if my emotions grow out of control... well, the result is bad." To explain how her powers worked was difficult. "Explosion" was the best word she could think of, but it was far more destructive than that, far more... She shook her head, giving up on explaining it. It was impossible to say, but easy to demonstrate. 'And we're not going to stoop to that,' she told herself. 'Unless he pisses you off,' SHE said with an evident smirk in her tone. 'Shut up.'
"So, if it seems like I'm having some type of internal turmoil, it's her fault," she concluded matter-of-factly, nodding. "Well, it has been lately..." She leaned on one side of the chair, growing dangerously tired. "All HER...." She drifted into unconsciousness.
