In the land of Valeria, people have always found their life long partners through the strings of affinity. These magical threads only appear to that person when they are in close proximity to their destined partner. No other can see this phenomeon and it forever has mistified the people of Valeria.
At the annual gathering of the Valerian lords, a great ball is held to celebrate another prosperous year. This year, Lord Ardente's younges daughter was permitted to attend in the hopes she would finally find her string of affinity.
And she did. You bet she did. Theres just one small problem. The man her string has tied her to is the son of Baron Lepue, her fathers enemy, and the biggest playboy in the land.
How can this pair ever hope to be happy when they have not only their families trying to tear them apart, but most of the playboys past conquests aswell?

That night, Aleera couldnt sleep at all. She didnt know if it was because of all the butterflies in her stomach, or the tears that seemed to never stop. Eventually she exhausted herself and fell into a deep slumber.
Father and son left soon after their small conversation, retiring for the evening in their home for the last time in a while.
"Aleera?" Lord Ardente asked his daughter, drawing her from her thoughts. "Its time we left. We need to prepare for the arrival of our.... guests." The red head nodded before asking something that had been bugging her.
"Are you proud of yourself?" A rich voice from behind Jerrod made him jump. His faced paled as realization set in.
As Jerrod wandered, Aleera sat at her fathers table, a frown etched into her features. Two weeks. Two whole weeks he'd be living under the same roof as her. Her sister had been the one to tell her in the end, saying 'That swine and his father will be staying with us by order of the King'. She almost wanted to yell. Fate really was having some fun with this.
Jerrod wandered th gardens for at least an hour in his solitude before returning to the ballroom, his whole attitude quiet and reserved now.
Aleera watched him go for a moment before shaking his head. She could feel a little of his hurt but she had made it clear she needed time. And a way around her father.
Aleera held her breath for a moment before releasing a sigh. She shook her head before replying.
Aleera sighed but stayed put nonetheless. She turned to look at him with an exasperated expression.
"Really?" Aleera asked, crossing her arms. "thats funny because I dont remember making an deals with jackasses." She then turned with every intention of leaving. She'd find Kasenia and make her father take them home.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Aleera yelled, finally ripping her hand from Jerrod's grasp. She was breathing rather heavily from the exertion.
Jerrod nearly jumped out of his skin before he laughed. "Come on!" He shouted, still holding Aleera's hand as he took off running, pulling her in tow.
Aleera was all set to struggle against her captor until she heard his words. Run away? Could she? Mentally slapping herself she stopped. He said 'if she fell in love' with him. Who's to say she would? Before she could ask herself that question, Kasenia's voice broke out.
A smile spread to her face as she passes him. From all of his late night excursions, he had nearly perfected walking silently.. and he did as he followed behind her, waiting for the right moment to..
