Aza shook out her fur, she was getting a cramp from being in this form all day

He stepped close enough to her that he knew the puppy couldn't hear what he said. "Beware of the puppy, I don't think its what it appears to be. If a demon was that close to us and we'd be standing around this long we'd be dead by now."

"Ok." she said and started walking next to him. she glanced uneasily at the puppy.

Aza was right beside Elle's legs, not wanting to let them out of her sight. She was on a mission. When do humans go to sleep? she thought the herself

He smiled slightly at her. "You couldn't have known it was going to happen, to the knowledge of everyone their convoy was safe. Anyway, we better get going, its nearly dark and that's a bad time to be outside a safe area."

"I don't know why they would want me alive. I am of no help to them." she said then looked up at him. "and I'm sorry about your parents."

Aza got up and trotted to catch up with them

He stopped. "I'm sorry, but....my parents died while I was protecting you, they were in a refugee convoy that was attacked by...well, we never found out what. By the time the bus was found the attacker had vanished. As for you helping...I'll leave that to my boss to explain, its not my place to say. Let's just say its no coincedence they're determined to keep you alive."

Aza followed elle and tripped over her feet, she landed on her nose.

She stooped walking and stared at him. "Look...I'm sorry...but you have no right to take it out on me. It is not my fault that any of this hapened...and I am trying to find a way to fix it...so don't yell at me." he reminded her of her brother when he yelled.

Aza whined for the human, human did hit your heart pretty bad.

He sighed, barely containing his anger. "Do you know how many people died to protect safe zones like yours? The death toll from this attack isn't a few hundred or a few thousand, at the last count 30 million were dead, and there are almost as many who's fates are unknown because they lived in what are now no-go areas for humans. I lost friends in that battle...I lost everything..." he fell silent.

Aza follows Elle

"wonderful." she muttered, following him.

"The obelisk that protects New York does not cover it entirely...large sections of its suburbs are gone, and there is a massive perimeter fence around what is left. Its like a fortress now."

She looked at him darkly. "changed how?"

Aza rolls around.

"I should warn you, New York has...changed...a lot."

elle noddes. "Ok...lead the way." she muttered dryly.
