Journal: Feet -------------------------------------------Mood: contemplative Pieds

have you ever knelt
knelt before a stranger, had them sit above you
and washed, washed their feet?
used your hands to tenderly wash away the dirt
and sweat from callused, blistered, filthy feet?
smelly
humbling
who would wash the feet of stranger? it's an ancient form of submission, an ancient way to honor. And if you ever did it you would understand how humbling this can be. if you ever did it, -swallowed the pride that fought behind your eyes as you poured warm water into a basin-you would understand what it is to serve others.
to serve others and be so thankful that you are able to kneel down and get up again. that you are able to reach your own feet to wash them. that you are able to walk on them all day, long enough that they get sore.
that you live in a place where you have other means of transportation if -god forbid- you lost a foot. and it may not be the most convenient but you would be able to continue living and ambulate more or less to a normal degree.
and that there are forms of transportation besides feet, even if it's a bicycle or a bus. and if you're blessed it's a car with 4 wheels.
We flinch at gas prices, food prices, but we don't realize what our lives are like compared to so many others. We take so much for granted. We take WATER for granted, more people around the world die from lack of clean water than Cancers and Aids combined.
so take a breathe today, because no matter where you are today there are thousands of people worse off. be thankful for the blessings you have even if it's just a little. and looking on the bright side makes things a little better :)
sorry for the rant...
