Oh, and as I just saw your comment lol. the poem's speaker is purposefully ambiguous. I wanted to draw attention to the aspects of life and the inequality that goes on that no one sees, and that people accept readily without any concern. I noticed the other day, in a social gathering, that what's worse than the attitudes that speak against gender equality, is the aloof attitudes that disguise that is still exists everywhere.
