    Hi Jason!

    Thank you for your comments on "Paper Roses"! You were right in your analysis, but the poem has a more complex meaning than that. The ladies that sell artificial flowere are usually destitute, but make an attempt to retain dignity and be as self sufficient as possible by making and selling their artificial flowers. The poem both is intended to reflect the "special" qualities of this aging lady who is still lovely (because of her special spirit and character), plus the joy that can occur from a gift of her simple "Paper Roses"!
