    Journal: why stay here?
    -------------------------------------------
    Mood: Frustrated

This site is not what it used to be. I remember a day when I would post a writing and it would have multiple comments on it by the end of the week. Users left compliments, criticism, advice, or even just a poem of their own that was inspired by my poem.

And that would be commonplace for everyone's poetry.
It really helped my writing, as there were talented poets giving me constructive criticism.

I try to stay as giving as I was in those days, and read through all of the poetry and give my thoughts and critique. But it has become tiresome because that effort is not reciprocated, and sometimes not even acknowledged with a simple "Thank you for your thoughts on my poem".

I want to say that there are some of you who still have that old spirit, but there are less and less of you.

I grow weary of being here, because it feels like I might as well be keeping these writings in a journal. I would get the same amount of conversation. And the best part is that this "Journal" will also go unread.

After 7 years it is hard for me to let go of this old website. I'm not quite ready to do so, but I'm being thrown in that direction.

The only way to bring the site back is for us old timers to start commenting on each other’s work- I’m game if you are.

I don't actually think I've done shit for this site in the last few years - other than not leave it.

What i like about it, competitive bastard that i am, is you can think you are the shit then every now and then someone will log on and you go through some of their work or browse a favourites list and find stuff that's really good... i like that.

If i know i haven't done shit I'm certainly not criticizing you
or anyone else for that matter, what I am saying is it's often hard to write when there's a lot of noise, logic leap- it's quiet here, if you have something to say or express
there's opportunity to get after it.

Donald Bradman was a famous cricketer- he averaged about 100 runs per test innings v all other countries...
The next best average yrs and yrs and yrs later might be 60. The dude grew up in the sticks so he would pitch himself the ball (a stone actually) with one hand and hit it with a stick the width of a broom handle with the other.

Point is -he used that isolation- he developed an extraordinary eye.

In a lot of ways, here, i feel like gandalf the grey, fell down chasm with the belrog, no telling when I'll get out, and no rush on that either, but when i do get out you can bet your ass what im writing is going to be every bit as white.

That's good. Life brings its joys and it deals its hard hands, it would be useful to be able to express things.

My short term advice is seek out lori tab or someone like that and build a coalition, like attracts like.

And don't be afraid to try somewhere else, it might very well be good for you.

Sorry about the hard hands, they are, they are tough.
