Perhaps, but all the same, it's funny how the conclusion people jump to is that it is all metaphorical; instead of taking it as merely being about a waltz between a father and a son, people instead take it to mean that the father is beating the son. I mean, words can always have multiple meanings but . . . In a sense, it almost seems as if there can never be simple poetry, because everyone expects the poem to mean something that isn't obvious.
If that makes sense. xD I think I might be talking in circles.
thanks for your input on overrated heaven, your thoughts are appreciated...i suppose we do need dreams, although I wonder if vain or unattainable hopes are necessary to strive..anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Ouch. I know how that feels. My harddrive on my laptop crashed about a year ago, and in the process, I lost a novel that I'd been writing that had 170+ pages. Not to mention the fact that a story I used to write on here was lost due to a similar problem, and no matter how many times I tried to restart it, it just never took. It's rather sad, actually.
I usually start with a vague concept, and then write down the words as they come to mind. The meaning may change as I write, but even so, whatever meaning I do have is relevant, whether it's profound or not. xD I think it's okay, though, because I don't write poetry seriously (which is why my poetry is always somewhat lacking); I tend to write stories more than I write poetry.
